Going to throw all new baits to start this spring, or are you going to stick with the baits you threw last year, and know so well.

The senko for me was killer in spring, and for the past few months, I have been sticking to jig fishing exclusively. I think that Mid February I'm going to start throwing all new baits that I didn't use much in 07.

Spinnerbaits, Jerkbaits, 10" worms, and some beavers are going to be at the top of my list.

I would like to actually catch fish on a rattle trap, I have like 7-8 of them but have never caught anything on them. Other than that it will be the same.

For the most part I will fish new techniques this year. I had a killer time with the drop shot and learned a lot with it.  I will probably only dedicate 10-15% of my fishing time to the drop shot next season.

I have got to get Jig n pigs down, and I want to learn what there is to know about the Shakey head. I guess I need a new rod. Back, baitmonkey!!! I don't need a shakey head rod.  ;D

I'll be throwing some big baits as well, need to get more confidence in 'em.

But , I really wish I could be satisfied throwing the same old stuff, I'd save a LOT of money. Now I'm sitting around thinking I need a new rod ! Why can't I ever be happy!?

I'm going to keep fishing my old reliables, (cranks, buzzbaits, soft plastics) but also focus on improving my jig and jerkbait fishing this year. I just started fishing these two lures alot last year, and they have really produced for me.

I might...just maybe...might be going to throw nothing but jig variations for the entire year.  Jigs of one sort or another make up about 75% of my fishing.  I might just really see what I can do with them.  After all, you really don't need much else.

Yup, I've been tying my own jigs for a little while now, satisfying when you catch a nice fish on them.

 I fish fairly skinny water and have always depended pretty much on soft plastics and jigs (I will throw a top water any time place or temp ;D). I'll probably do the same thing this year. The types of baits that I would like to use more (toads, buzzers and rattle traps) I already have, just don't use enough. I'll be trying them this year (hopefully :-[)...

I'll continue with small jigs and jigging spoons for now and when March gets here and the fish move up onto the points, I'll bring out the Pointers. After they get shallow, I'll go back to the jig and mix in some crankbaits and spinnerbaits. Same thing every spring.

being that i havent been doing this for long, i think i am going to stick to what worked for me last year...cranks, t-rigs, topwaters and jigs....but i do plan to improve my jiggin skills

Try using your rattletraps during the cold weather before the top of the water turns to ice and when the ;ale thaws out...

I think many people who have bought or received a gift of a new lure or bait etc will test the waters...

I don't have anything particular in mind. I'm just going to use what I've got. I have a tackle shop worth of lures in my possession and I don't see the need to add to them this year.

I will be throwing the same lures that I've been throwing for years...(and catching fish with).  Last year I picked up a few new spinnerbaits to replace some that were lost or worn beyond fixing.  This year I intend to purchase perhaps a half dozen new crankbaits and that will be it. (Nothing over $5-$6, I might add)

I was going through my tackle the other day and found alot of lures I haven't used in a few years. They always caught fish for me, so I decided to spend a little more time with my "old" baits.

I want to start focusing on deeper fishing (ledges, humps and deep points) with dropshot and heavy jigs.

Also want to start using big (for CT) swimbaits.

Basically, I want to catch bigger fish

I'm always trying new stuff and I'm starting to think I've got the wrong strategy...Do most of you focus on a few baits and get really good with those?  Right now I rely mostly on soft plastics, jig & pig and rattle traps.  But I throw EVERYTHING else.  Spinnerbaits, cranks, chatterbaits, buzzbaits, etc.  This year I'm wanting to get good with spinnerbaits and crankbaits because right now i suck with them.

Going to be throwing more swim baits this year. Also wanna learn to fish deep better so deep cranks are on the table also.

I can't wait to practice throwing t-rigged worms. 10" worms are going to be 75% of what I throw this spring, or at least that's what I'm planning for.
