SOL or FUEGO

I need another reel like a hole in the head. But, I have been wanting to try these reels and can only afford one. Which of these reels (per their specific application) is the better performer? Thanks.

If it were me I would definitely go with the Sol and upgrade it to Solasaurus status. One thing I heard about the Sol is it feels unbalanced on a heavier rod.

I bought both of these reel when they first came out, and I tend to use the Sol more. The fuego tends to "freespool" at times as though the magnetic brake doesn't work. This could be a problem with my reel only though. I use the Sol on a custom made rod, and use the Fuego on a 7' rod with braid and like them both. Hope his helps.

Depends on what you want to use them for but of the two the Sol is my favorite since it is Orange.

It depends, the Sol doesn 't hold much line per se, wanna spool larger than 12 lbs ? ----> oops ! you end up with a pretty short ammount of line, also it 's not burning fast. The Fuego holds a lot more line, holds more heavy line and it 's faster than the Sol. But the Sol can do what the other won 't do as well, cast light baits into the next zip code with little effort.

Ive had both, prefer the sol for my intended application.  The fuego is a good all around reel and the 6.x speed, a little heavier and bulkier than the sol but still lighter and smaller than other reels of its time.  I sold my fuego but kept my sol.  I use the sol for shallow cranks, jerkbaits, and some smaller topwaters like the zara puppy.  It excels in these applications and paired with a 6'10''MH Gold Carrot Stix, it feels like it weighs next to nothing.  Like Raul said, not alot of line capacity, I use 10lb line on mine and can cast out the entire spool with a 3/4oz bait.

Exactly, the Sol is more light line/lure oriented and everything in it is meant for that purpose, the , the Fuego is more heavy line/lure oriented, doesn 't mean it won 't cast a light lure but it won 't cast is as far and effortlessly as the Sol does, also, for some applications ( like buzzbaiting ) it 's a better option, try buzzbaiting with a Sol and you 'll have to reel in like crazy trying to keep the buzzbait on the surface.

i have both and they're both nice reels. however, many reels can do what the fuego does (general duty) but few can handle light lures with the aplomb that the sol exhibits without costing significantly more. and, except for the somewhat limited line capacity, the sol can cover many duties. the difference in line retrieve between the two is 4" (28 IPT for the fuego and 24 IPT for the sol).

I have two of both.  I use the Sol for shaky heads, light plastics, light cranks and topwaters.  The Sol will outcast the Fuego with light baits.  

The Fuego casts great with heavier baits.  With medium diving cranks and heavier plastic applications, or where long casting is necessary, the Fuego is better.   The Fuego is a joy to fish with.  

They both palm great and have equal drags.

Reason why when i brought my Sol and a member said i could swap out for a Fuego i did.Very thanksful for this member here for allowing me to do that.

I thought about it and decided the Fuego would be the better choice.I use my spinning rig for lighter baits anyways.
