Super User skunked_again Posted September 11, 2009 Super User Posted September 11, 2009 thats how long it took me to pic a rod out last night. i was very impressed with my wife. 99.9% of the time she wants nothing to do with anything fishing other than boat rides but she went and picked out rods and brought them back for me to store fish. in the end it came down to 4 rods. Shimano Compre Berkley Shock rod (i know.....heh) Fenwick HMG (on sale no less) Falcon Lowrider the shocker is i loved the berkley rod. with my Sol mounted on the thing it felt like a million bucks and really send the rubber plug out there. the fenwick rod was my fav. out of the group but they didnt have a 6'6" rod in the action i wanted. i didnt store test the lowrider since i had past experience with the rod. the shimano rod surprised me as well. it was light and quick. a bit more heavy than i wanted but still manageable. in the end i took home the Shimano Compre. i fished from the bank this morning and the set-up sends 1/4 oz cranks flying so im good there. cant wait to actually catch a fish with it.....lol Quote
ALbasser Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Only 3 hours? ;D The best tackle store I have near me is a Gander Mt., but I do go to Atlanta about once a month for buisiness (I am here right now as a matter of fact). Georgia Mall is only about 30 min. away from my hotel so I live in Bass Pro while down here. Nothing like a good afternoon spent drooling over things I cant afford! Quote
Sharkbite Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Wow thats awsome dude. What do you mean you can store fish them? I've never seen that before. The Rooster Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 I fish the Compre in a 6'6" length too. What model did you get?? Mine are medium and medium heavy with fast tips, the CPC66MB and CPC66MHB. They are the first rods I've ever owned that are what I consider "high end". Prior to them I've always fished $50 and less rods. All I can say is what a difference and I wish I had back the 12 years I wasted and all the money too that I spent on all those other rods!!! I'm a Shimano fan for life now. Quote

That's actually Discover Mills Mall. The Mall of Georgia is in Buford and has a Dick's Sporting Goods with a pitiful fishing dept. Quote

The Rooster Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 With that action and power it sounds like the crankbait version with TC-4 construction. Maybe a CPCC66MHB?? Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted September 12, 2009 Author Super User Posted September 12, 2009 thats it. its getting put in rotation in the morning, i cant wait to see how it differs from the Lowrider i broke. Quote
The Rooster Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 I had my hands on one of these today at the store and thought about this post then. I was thinkin' about picking one up. I fish crankbaits some, getting more and more, not sure if I need a specific rod for it yet though. Maybe....just maybe.... Quote
