steezy Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Today, I want fishing equipment that first works perfectly, or as close as humans can make it (that I can afford) and is a beautiful machine as well. Rod and reels together represent the essence of true basic machines, the lever and the pulley, expressed in a fine presentation preforming a basic task of life, finding food. What could be better? I almost teared up when I read that! :'( Quote

wagn Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Or just maybe, the folks who are not happy with the Triumphs wrap, and like the SCII blade and know they can save 20 bucks , off the Premier and get more or less the same rod with the mojo, buy the mojo. Many who do not buy high end stuff, because I can't afford it, still research and see how far they can get a dollar to go. PS I do not own a Mojo, I had too many problems with guide inserts on the Premiers,I do not see any major pluses owning a St Croix, until you get to the Avid and I am not willing to spend that much on a rod. I'm on the same page as Muddy. I bought a mojo, not because it was a "sexy" rod, but because it was the same rod as the Premier, and I like the Premier. IThey are good rods in my price point. If I have the choice between what are essentially the same rods, why wouldn't I buy the one that looks a little better to me. It's not like St Croix is scamming anyone. All they did was make the same rod in two different configurations. Quote

Super User flechero Posted September 12, 2009 Super User Posted September 12, 2009 I bought a custom rod last month from a reputable maker here in Florida. He said bring it back if you don't like it, I didn't and he gave me a full refund, NQA. I'd buy only from a bricks and motor store and I want to know the ground rules upfront, I'd buy from his store again, he lived up to his "oral contract". Sounds like you bought a rack rod from a builder that also does custom work... If you had it custom built to your spec., I doubt you'd bring it back and doubt he'd give a full refund. I could be wrong, but that would be very odd. Quote

His attitude led me to believe he would have taken any product back, his posture was" in pleasing the customer". He operates a full service bait and tackle store, income is not based solely on rod building and eventually someone would have bought a returned custom rod and he knows that. A happy customer comes back, a mad one doesn't. I've been back to visit with an open wallet. Quote
