EastMarkME Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Picked up my first braided today. Got some Fireline 30 lb for fishing the messy stuff on the B/C. Realized when I got home its alternating green/green 'tracer' line. Whats the deal with that ? Any drawbacks ? I'll be buzzbaiting, jigging, and frogging with it. I noticed knot tying and line cutting this stuff is quite different. Hope I like it ! Looking forward to giving it a toss. Mark Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted September 10, 2009 Super User Posted September 10, 2009 It is easier to see than Fireline Braid. That is why I bought it. Quote
mrlitetackle Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 man, where's dodgeguy..... he loves this stuff...... im sure he'll give you all the pro's of the line when he finds this thread. (and a nice pic to ) ...a lot of people here really like the stuff, and apparently it is supposed to be a very good braid. although i have never tried it...............................................im still stuck on suffix braid, and no complaints thus far. infamous512 Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 This is what I've heard about the "Fireline Tracer braid". Pro: visibility for line watchers Cons: tends to absorb & hold a lot of water color fades quickly Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted September 10, 2009 Super User Posted September 10, 2009 i use the regular braid.the only difference is the colors.the line doesn't hold any more water than any other braid.i have not found it to be an issue.the regular braid holds it's color better than any other.i cannot speak for tracer braid on that point. EastMarkME Posted September 10, 2009 Author Posted September 10, 2009 Great replies. Thanks guys. I can see where the line might be tough to see without the tracer. Glad its OK. Thought I gaffed my selection. Saw alot of good remarks on Fireline but didnt notice the tracer feature on some of them. Sure strange cutting it. Mark Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted September 10, 2009 Super User Posted September 10, 2009 As far a cutting the supelines, there are scissors marketed for that purpose or you can just get the kid's safety scissors made by Fiscar. Quote
