What I don't understand is why so many people take these things personally?  I am a big G Loomis fan, but if someone says something negative about G Loomis, I don't get upset.  I might make a comment back, but it wouldn't be anything personal.  I feel the only people who should take anything personal about what is being said about a brand is someone whose livelihood is based off of that brand (e.g., Carrot Stix Salesman, E21 Employee, etc.).  Anyone else who uses the rod, because they like how it feels, shouldn't take anything said personally (nor should anyone get that passionate to harshly trash someone else for buying it).  Ok, I am done my mini rant about this thread and several other threads that take on the same tone.

Use what ya like .If your buying a rod from a company that goes out of business thats your call .The big 3 will always be around G loomis,St croix and Shimano :)

I have two of them, and couldnt be happier with them.  Wish they were a little stiffer, but other than that I love them.  I would challenge someone to find me a rod in that price range that is near as lite or sensitive.

It always amuses me how the same guys go from one thread to another, bashing on carrot stix. Then the same guys come along to defend them. I think we need a Carrot Stix FAQ or something because this thread is exactly the last 200 of them.

You guys can bash them all you want. I wouldn't pay the new price of $200 for one but they are very competitive at the $150 price point IMO. I have two and I love both of them. They're sensitive for the price and they're ridiculously light. I don't care about the press they get (although I commend Duckett for doing what he thinks is right) they work perfectly well for me.

How many of you guys that are bashing them actually own or have used one?

8-)

like i said, ive fished them a ton......in the store..........lol.

let me ask you, what brought you to buy a Carrot Stix or any other rod/reel? the feedback on this forum is probably 100% responsible for me not buying some gear and 60% responsible for the current gear i have.

i dont have to use them on the water, some boys i respect a ton did that for me.

thanks guys!!!!

i have 3 carrot stix and i love mine. i only paid $100 each. with that said, everyone has their own opinion.

i do agree with you about how the feedback on this forum can help someone make a decision on what they purchase. my rule of thumb is this: just because it says they have been posting a long time on their avatar, doesn't mean they have. i respect a lot of guys on this site and value their opinions.

just be careful who you heed advice from. 20 posts a day for 3 months does not make for a reliable source of info IMO.

I love my Carrot Stix.  It is one of my most sensitive rods and also I love the price point.

Those of you that are saying that your Carrot Stixs keep breaking, I'm sure at least 70% of the breakage occured from when you damaged it, whether you knew it or not.

As for the guides, what is wrong with them?  Are they falling out?  Are they bending?

IMHO you cant go wrong with Carrot Stix.  I have 3 of them and fish them all 3-4 times a week.  Never had any problems with any kind of breakage.  Very sensitive rods with good backbone.  Fish what feels good.

I am quite certain people much wiser than you said the same thing about the BIG 3 automakers  ::)

I would trade my Croix Avids for a carrot stick anyday and put my sticks through hell, and have broke 2 avids and have not broke my Carrot Stick yet even though it is my go to rod.

Yup, all funny until you awaken the Pond Hopper.

I had a nice sponsorship with Croix a couple years ago until I started breaking Legends and Avids on the first cast out of the tube then they wanted $50 a piece to replace them. Croix and Loomis are becoming obsolete by the minute. Company's like Dobyn's, Kistler, Powell, and Shimano will be moving a lot more rods in the next 5-10 years.

Pick up a Cumara and you will see.

Ken Whiting of e21 is a standup guy, so if you do have a problem I'm sure he'll be on top of issues...I had an issue w/ an Airrus rod a few years back and called him at his home; he replaced the rod no questions asked and the only cost to me was the shipping of a piece of the rod which had the rod's information that's located above the reel seat...point being, I would think that he's getting involved w/ the Q/A side and getting to the bottom of the dispute...does anyone know what the issue(s) are/is...I read somewhere where the rod tip was to replaced because of cosmetic reasons, but the rod itself was fine...hey, if you just purchased one, get out and use the heck out of it prior to the one year $50 return cost kicks in...BTW, I will say that I just bought a Gold Stix w/ a 15% discount over the 4th, however, I would not have if the news came out earlier...but, I have faith in Ken W...BH

I liked my 6'9 Parabolic Carrot I got last year so much that I ordered a 6'8 medium action Boyd Duckett spinning rod two weeks ago.  I was really let down.  The Medium was as thick as a BPS Heavy or MH.  Also the spinning reel sat on the rod at such an angle and the first guide was so close to the reel that when I'd quickly reel up slack the line would bounce off the rod blank which was extremely annoying.

A buddy of mine attended ICAST-2009 and he brought back a brochure for e21...no Boyd Duckett on the brochure that he had; unless perhaps there was a separate brochure for the B.D. GoldStix...so, unless they had new brochures made up in a day or two, then he must have pulled out way before the show and waited to make an announcement until prior to the shows kick-off...also, I was talking to a factory rep from St. Croix about the MoJo and what a nice rod it was for the money...I asked him if knew what was going on concerning the falling out between e21 and Mr. Duckett, to which he replied that Boyd has a very high opinion of himself...just info

I have been using my E21 Carrot Stick for about 4 Months now. I Own Shimano, St. Croix, Okuma, and GLoomis. I must say that the Carrot stick is by far the lightest rod that I own. I love the foam grips, I personally like the look. I have no complaints about these rods.

P.s These rods are also perfectly balanced.
