KingBass Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 All right, so when I do get my next reel, I Don't wanna put braid on it, I've got it on my other reel and really like (I've been a braid only user for about a year). I don't like dow it makes my reel feel less smooth. So I wanna try to get mono. Here's what I want in the mono. 1) Thin diameter 2) Sensitive (I'm really picky about this) 3) low stretch 4) High abrasion resistance 5) low memory Am I wanting something that does not exists? I'll spend up to 20 bucks on it. I want mono not flouro because it floats, I throw a lot of top waters so the flouro is a no because it sinks. I've head good stuff bait P-line Flouro clear. Thanks, Quote
Super User islandbass Posted August 31, 2009 Super User Posted August 31, 2009 Abrasion Resistance and Thin Diameter are two traits that are a bit opposed to each other. The way a mono is made "tougher" for the same strength is to usually increase its diameter for a pure single filiament line. I am excluding copolymers. I think with the exception of abrasion resistance Trilene XL, Sufix Elite, and Stren Magnathin fit your bill. Sufix of the three, resists memory the best. Quote
Super User Marty Posted August 31, 2009 Super User Posted August 31, 2009 Am I wanting something that does not exists? I'm afraid so. Mono is no exception, everything has tradeoffs. Quote
Quitlimpin Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Just bump up to Yo-Zuri hybrid and get it all! Quote

I will sacrifice memory and thin diameter for anything else up there though. Those are the two least important things to me, the most important to me are abrasion resistant, and sensitivity (which goes along with low stretch). Just bump up to Yo-Zuri hybrid and get it all! I thought about it, I my snooping before I joined, I think some one named Road Worrier likes it, he said 12lb is like 20lb breaking strength.. Was he for reals? Sounds to go to be true! I wonder if it's sensitive though..... Quote

Why not just reintroduce yourself and start over? My favorite mono is Sunline Super Natural, it has the best combination of traits out of the ones you listed of any mono I've tried. Quote

Willzx225 Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 I have found alot of those same qualities in Sunline Defier as well. I've had 11lb on a shakey head rod since late April and it still has ZERO memory and has the same diameter of 10lb Berkley Sensation. it is awesome line. I am sure it is similiar to the Sunline Super Natural that Jake was talking about. I am very impressed with Sunline products just wish they were cheaper. Welcome back Snapper G - prove us wrong. Super User RoLo Posted September 1, 2009 Super User Posted September 1, 2009 Until we sort out this name thingy, I'll have to call you King Snapper ;D If this line is going on spinning gear, I'd strongly recommend that you stick with braid and forget monofilament line. If it's going on a casting outfit, I'd choose Trilene Big Game for 'nylon' mono and Sufix Elite or Sufix Siege for 'copolymer' mono. Roger Quote

No true, sensitivity has nothing to do with stretch, it has to do with density. Quote
