Super User skunked_again Posted August 10, 2009 Super User Posted August 10, 2009 The guy's a fraud. I'd take an engraver and engrave "REJECT" on the frame. Then send it back. the seller would just engrave "inspected by" in front of reject. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 10, 2009 Super User Posted August 10, 2009 Keep the reel or throw it away and be done with it. You owe this guy nothing. For someone "in the business" to operate as he has is despicable. > Quote
Scorpio Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 If it works well, I would donate it to a good cause. Quote
Super User David P Posted August 10, 2009 Super User Posted August 10, 2009 As someone else posted, maybe he truly thought it was a 6.4:1 . I have 5 STXS, most of my gear ratio writing is warn off. I have all 7:1's but if I didn't, I'd probably be a bit confused. None the less, be the bigger man. Email me, tell him you got your money back but you'd still like the chance to return the reel, he just needs to cover the shipping. Quote
fish-fighting-illini Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Screw the guy he's an idiot. You did everything in your power to resolve the situation w/o Paypal and in a classy manor. The guy acted like a clown and lied to you as well. I wonder why someone who sold so many items decided to up and change his ebay name? Give it 30days If he wants the reel he can ask for it and can send the return shipping else tell him to buzz off. After 30days if no response do some research and find a deserving underpriveledged kid and give it to him or her. If you want to couple it with a rod I'll send $20 towards one or I will send a rod that I no longer use. You owe the clown nothing if he can't take the time to do proper busines forget him. If you go the kid route or are thinking of it just pm me. FFI - AKA Matt Crum Quote
BenoBreath Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 You handled the problem well. If the seller doesn't ask for the reel back, keep it as a backup. BB Quote
Jake... Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 all i can say is the seller sounds FISHY to me. everything you wrote about him is dishonest. he told you to "get rid" of the reel on ebay, probably so it will be "your" problem now. then only offered a refund if you ship it first, thats shady. didn't respond to any if the emails, no response to the dispute. again thats shady probably tried to scam you. looks like you beat him. if u send the reel back your a fool Quote
