80pruf Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 So I am about ready to pull the trigger on a new steez reel but was concerned because I fish lakes 50 percent of the time and rivers with brackish water 50 percent of the time. Will the brackish water wreck this reel? Somebody help...please. I am going to get one of the new steez fle-x-lite cranking rods and want a really light weight reel to pair it up with. I don't mind spending the money for something that will last me a long time and that I will enjoy. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted August 31, 2009 Super User Posted August 31, 2009 It's recommended use is for fresh water only.I'm sure someone who owns a steez will post you a more definative answer soon. Quote
steezy Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Steez = freshwater only. Your gonna love the reel and rod but this reel is a precision machine and you will not want to take it into a harsh environment such as salt. I clean any dirt or gunk from the exposed surfaces on mine after every fishing outing and I would never take it near saltwater. Quote
Pantera61 Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Do not use a Steez baitcaster anywhere near salt or brackish water! Quote
steezy Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Get a Shimano Core 50 if you want a small size and light baitcast reel that feels similar to a steez but can be used for saltwater. Its also $100 less. Quote
