Super User Dan: Posted August 28, 2009 Author Super User Posted August 28, 2009 .... I aint gonna look........ i aint gonna look......aw %@#!*&@! I looked : Dom, you should set aside a jar for the money you would have spent on cigs and use it for one of the new Pfluegers or Abus...that is, unless you are too stuck on the round reels ;D Quote
Super User cart7t Posted August 28, 2009 Super User Posted August 28, 2009 Hmm... The XT Patriarch is listing at $50 more than a regular Patriarch. It has one less bearing and except for the handle and different drag assembly, I can't figure out where they saved 1.2 oz on it unless the standard handle is really that heavy vs. this new one. Quote

Super User Muddy Posted August 28, 2009 Super User Posted August 28, 2009 I am wondering if they did what She Man O did and went to Graphite side plates? I loved when She Man O did that, all the crowing about how She Man O. never would lower themselves to use Graphite on the Curados , then they did , and not a peep out of the posse : Quote
Stasher1 Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 According to Tackle Wharehouse, the sideplates are titanium-coated aluminum. They've dropped a bearing, changed handles and knobs, the drag star has changed as well. Quote

Super User Dan: Posted August 28, 2009 Author Super User Posted August 28, 2009 How do these Revo threads always end up about Shimanos? cart, I think the carbon fiber handle probably helps but also it seems as if the knobs are made of EVA. That would save a bit of weight as well. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 28, 2009 Super User Posted August 28, 2009 How do these Revo threads always end up about Shimanos? Muddy brought it up comparing reels, NOT anyone in the Posse! We don't do that anymore. : Quote
Super User Dan: Posted August 28, 2009 Author Super User Posted August 28, 2009 So far they have the new Revo STX, Premier, Toro Winch, Pflueger Patriarch, President, and Patriarch XT as well as some new Okuma casting reels. I like the look of the new STX but I'm not sure about the gold drag star on the Premier. I actually like the look of the new President more than the Patriarch of the Patriarch XT. I think I'm satisfied with the deals I got on my older STX and Premier. Quote

The anti-Shimano posse likes to bring the comparisons up and then act like the Shimano posse always interjects their opinions. I think it must be an inferiority complex. ;D ;D ;D Quote

I suppose they could be borrowing the lighter aluminum material their Pure fishing cousin Garcia is using on the Premier to gain some advantage. Doesn't indicate that though. Quote
Stasher1 Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 That's a possibility since they're also claiming a 20# max drag. I can see right now that I'm going to have to start saving my nickels for a new XT. Quote

I own all brands and have come to realize the posse crap is stupid. I'm just sick of it all being blamed on one side. Now I just take it as what it primarily is: an ongoing joke between both sides. Hence the three smilies. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 28, 2009 Super User Posted August 28, 2009 Spose to be fun... I don't know anyone that actually cares about what someone else fishes. People are curious and many are just getting started or need some help. A reason for some bias is the "been there, done that" factor. Some products we just like better, but some really do offer superior performance. So, buy some new Revos and Pfluegers, post your initial thoughts and observations over time. We have a lot of members very loyal to both brands and many more that would like to consider owning this equipment themselves. Let's all lighten up, this stuff is not life threatening. 8-) Quote
