WashDCIrish Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 So I have a 7'3" MH Carrot Stick with a Team Daiwa Spinning reel on, but I'm tryign to get another baitcaster, and I most often use spinner baits. I think I'm leaning towards a Mojo Bass, but I wanted to see what you all would suggest if you had to stay under 300 for the rod/reel. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted August 17, 2009 Super User Posted August 17, 2009 My Spinner bait set-up is a 7' MH Avid and a Pflueger Supreme and it ran me around $280 or so. It's a great set-up, the avid is a bit heavy but the Supreme helps balance it out nicely Quote
Super User Raul Posted August 17, 2009 Super User Posted August 17, 2009 My spinnerbait setup is a GLoomis CR723GL2+Curado 200B/Alphas Type F. Quote
bigtimfish Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Mine is a American Rodsmiths 7'mh Team series with a Daiwa Exceler 12lb Sufix Siege. Love it Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 I use a Shimano Crucial 7ft MH/F and a Revo S spooled with 17lb mono Quote
ArcticCat500 Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 I loved GLoomis's SBR812 paired with a Curado 200DHSV, it was sweet, needed money, needed to sell. I regret the day. Quote
aarogb Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Mine is a All-Star Pro Series with a Quantum Burst casting reel in a 6.3:1 gear ratio. Quote
UBA Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 I use a Powell 683C and a Curado E7 for spinnerbaits. Quote
Bronzefly Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 I use a Powell 683C and a Curado E7 for spinnerbaits. That's a FINE setup for less than $300 - and very multi-purpose as well. Also consider looking on the flea market page for a used MH Crucial between 6'6" and 7' - very nice rods for the $$! Quote
Willzx225 Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 I like the crucials for anything but spinnerbaits for some reason. I have a 6'10" Quantum KVD spinnerbait rod ( looks like the crankbait rod but all graphite) and LOVE it. My partner in the last tournament made a few casts with it and claimed he liked it more than his Loomis spinnerbait rod! I understand that is a bold statement. I have a STX on mine. Quote
central_fl_fishin Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 I use a Stradic 2500FI on an Avid AVS66MLF. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted August 19, 2009 Super User Posted August 19, 2009 I'm throwing Quantum's TE1160PT TOUR EDITION 6.3:1 reel on either their PTC6106FKV (6'10") or the PTC666FKV (6'6") both are Kevin VanDam Model rods. The PTC6106 will get the bait out there a ways and the PTC666 excels at tossing baits a shorter distance with accuracy. I'm VERY happy with both models but find myself reaching for the longer rod more often. With some diligent Internet shopping both rods and this reel can be had for a very reasonable $$$. I've been looking for a new spinnerbait rod for the past week or so with a budget of about $100, and had pretty much settled on the 7' Mojo MH 'Spinnerbait' model. Instead, I've ordered the 6'10" PTC6106FKV for $80 from Simmons. Grand total with shipping and insurance was only a few dollars more than the Mojo would've cost me from my local BPS. Quote
BenoBreath Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 I'm hooked up with: Cabela's XML 7'0 MH SB rod (with a balance kit) Revo SX. spooled with Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft, 12lb. Quote
