I just spooled my baitcaster with with aproximately 150 yds of 12 lb P-Line and took it out today. I had overruns on every single cast. The part that puzzled me is that I wasn't really getting birds nests, it wasn't knotting up and I was able to pull it out however it was going very deep into my spool. I was pulling out probably 40 feet of line before it would clear. I haven't experienced these problems with any of the other line I have used so I was curious if anyone had any similar experience or if anyone might know what could be causing this.

Try putting less line on the spool and keeping tension on the line when filling the spool.

150 yards of line?  What kind of reel are you using?

As strong and abrasive resistance as this stuff is....it sucks when it comes to manageability. It's like trying to cast steel wire.

I just use this stuff as leaders.

12 lb. CXX is anything but 'steel wire'.

I had problems with it too....same issues. It is much stiffer than my normal 12# any line that I've tried.

I got so frustrated i stripped it off and put on Trilene XT...never had a single problem again.

I flat out don't like P-line CXX as a main line.I use them as leaders, simply because these zebra mussels can't chew through them like they do with braid.

I use CXX from 8-20lb and really like it.  I have not had many managabilty issues with it in any size on baitcasting gear.  Any line will give you trouble if you over fill your spool.

I experienced the same problem the first time I fished with CXX, all I did was to increase the braking a little bit.
