bassgirl21 Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Does anyone know anything about any of these rods? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 11, 2009 Super User Posted August 11, 2009 You should get plenty of response, all three have a pretty good following. I have a Dobyns Champion Series 683C matched up with a CH50MG. It is the only split grip I own and by far the lightest rod, too. The rod is very sensitive and strong. My only issue is no-name guides, but that has not been a problem so far. Otherwise, if split grip is your thing, this might be just what you are looking for. As a matter of fact, if you decide on the Dolbyns, we might make a deal. I don't think split grip is for me. http://www.***.com/descpageDCASTROD-DCCT.html 8-) Quote
tutle Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 I have several Falcons and like them. I have also dealt with the customer service manager over a warranty issue .He was extremely helpful and friendly and resolved my problem to my complete satisfaction. I will be getting at least one more Falcon very soon. I have not owned any of the other two rods mentioned . Falcon rods are made in America ,by the way. Quote
Koop Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 I have a Kistler Argon and a Falcon Cara. Both are excellent rods, the Argon is above and beyond all other rods my hands down favorite so far. But both the falcon and the argon have great sensitivity, great backbone. Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 I don't like Dobyns but i own several Falcon Cara T7s and Kistlers as well. The Argon and Helium line of Kistlers is AWESOME!!! Worth every penny imo! Quote
A.Parris Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Falcon Lowrider is an exellent rod for the money. Its really all the rod you will ever need. Tough as nails too ! Quote
Uncle Leo Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 I own a Kistler Argon,Falcon Cara and a Lowrider. I did own a Dobyns. For my money I love my Falcons. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted August 12, 2009 Super User Posted August 12, 2009 I have two Kistler Magnesiums and really like them. I have a 7'H and 7'MH. They are pretty light and sensitive. I have a friend that has both magnesiums and a helium LTA and says he prefers the magnesium. Quote
uicdent11 Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 I have never used a Kistler so I can not help you there. I have owned both Dobyns and Falcon, but only fished the Dobyns. It was extremely light for a 4 power rod. I would say that the power rating is about a 1/2 overrated from my experience. I used it a few times then sold it to someone on here bc I just couldn't get used to split grips. I had a falcon head turner and weightless worm special that seemed like great rods, but I found out I hate ACS reel seats before even hitting the water. Passed them onto someone as well. If you like split grips then I would suggest the Dobyns. Very well balanced and doesn't have that tip heavy affect most split grips have. * Another model in that price range is the Legend Tournament Bass from St. Croix. Quote
Poolie727 Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 I have used one of my brother's Dobyn rods one day on the lake a month or so ago and was very impressed with it. I own 2 Kistler Mags, 2 Kistler LTA'a and just two weeks ago added a Kistler Argon. All of them are worth every penny I spent on them, but the Argon is the cats meow for me. By far my favorite. A buddy of mine that is also in the tank for Kistler rods has recently picked up a couple Falcon Lowriders and says they're darn near as sensitive as the Kistler's and about half the price. I don't think you can go wrong with any of these three. They're all good quality rods. Quote
Bass XL Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 What would you like to know? I've fished with all of them and all three companies make great rods. But out of the three, and its just my opinion...Kistler makes the best rods. Quote
okiefisher8 Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Falcon's are the only ones that I have used but I have three Cara's and a lowrider UL my dad and brother both have originals. IMO I wouldn't go with anything else, but they are also made about 5 miles away from me so that makes it a lot easier for me to get a hold of one Quote
