mrlitetackle Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 I was out today with my 7' fish eagle II spinning rod (md. lite)....... and a first for me... i broke my rod.. it was right at the tip. I called Cabella's and told the CS representative exactly what happened, "it was my fault, i gave the rod a quick hard slap to get some weeds off....and pop, there goes the tip" i just called to see if anything could be done, knowing it was my fault that the rod broke..... but it doesnt hurt to ask, and sure enough, a replacement is being shipped right now.... and at no charge, once they recieve and process my return.... and as for shipping fees... they waived them. nice company, eh. Super User skunked_again Posted August 10, 2009 Super User Posted August 10, 2009 i have found this to be the case. ive never returned a busted rod but i took back a tourney IM7 that had some weird seat problem and got a new rod. plus, their rods arent to shabby. Quote
mrlitetackle Posted August 11, 2009 Author Posted August 11, 2009 ya, it was great that they did that for me..... even after i told the nice lady that it was clearly my fault!!!! as for the rods, i loved it up till that point, at which i kicked myself for being such an idiot!!! wont do that again, and i will make sure this one gets proper respect!!! DINK WHISPERER Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 I bought three Fish Eagle II rods last year from them. I broke one on a hook set and one just checking the tip flex with my hand! They refunded me all the $ and covered the return shipping with a pre-paid label as well! Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted August 11, 2009 Super User Posted August 11, 2009 I'm lucky, drive right by Cabela's everyday. Never a problem with returns or price matching. In and out, done deal. Quote

mrlitetackle Posted August 11, 2009 Author Posted August 11, 2009 and man Dinkwhisperer....... that must have been quite the feat, considering im sure you bought the "telephone pole" power rods. ;D ;D ;D i know how you love the heavy stuff!!!!! Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 MAN, how did you know!?! They where all H/F, LOL!!! Maybe i got some bad ones? I found them to be too brittle really! They remind me of the Shimano Crucials when it comes to how brittle they feel. The customer service is amazing though!!! Quote
mrlitetackle Posted August 11, 2009 Author Posted August 11, 2009 im accustomed to your style with the heavy cover man!!!!!! i'll see if i can keep the new one out of trouble......... if not....... well new gear time!!!!!!! ....in this case, its a double edged sword!!!!!.......... (but we all love new gear ;D ;D) Quote
ChiCityBasser Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 I had a similar incident happen with an XML rod happen when I got a lure stuck in a wood piling and instead of just popping the line I tried to use the rod to snap the line. That was a big mistake cause the rod snapped about 3/4 down from the tip. I went into Cabelas and explained to a sales rep what happened (my fault also) he told me to bring it in and they exchanged it no problem. CS just told me to find another one and bring it back to the desk for a even exchange. They have great CS and much more careful with the rods now. Quote
bigtimfish Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 They did something similar for me a few years ago. I ordered 2 Eagle Claw 2 piece surf rods. 1 was fine the 2nd had an eye that was bent down. The lady said keep it we will send another. It arrived and a different eye was laying down. The lady apologized again and sent another. So now I have 4 surf rods for the price of 2. BTW the eyes were very easily bent right back into place, like new. Quote
mrlitetackle Posted August 12, 2009 Author Posted August 12, 2009 wow bigtimfish..... crazy you didnt even have to send'em back... now thats CS at a whole new level!!!!! awesome!! Quote
uicdent11 Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 I've also had a great experience with Cabelas CS. Just today I took back a rod I had for almost 4 months that I never used. No questions asked and they refunded directly to my credit card. Next, took a trip over to BPS to exchange a rod I got for my dad. They said that since it had been over 30 days that they would have to give me in store credit even though I had a receipt for the product. Once I used up that gift card, I will only be purchasing from Cabelas from now on. * I did see a new return policy notice at Cabelas that is starting 9/1/09, but I forgot to read through it. Quote
