fisherdave Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 Looking for a good soft plastic bait bag from cabelas online store. Anyone bought one from here? Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 1, 2008 Super User Posted January 1, 2008 Soft sided one are always good. I have started using a gym bag. Soft sides; lightweight; and you can put a lot of stuff in it but not too much so you don't bring more tackle than you need. Check out BPS web site for soft sided tackle systems and consider them. M_Fields. Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 fisherdave, I have the G. Loomis soft bags and there are okay and they are $30.00 or so. I like them better because it is bigger than the Shimano ones and they are $ 20.00 or so. I have both. If you want to big one, go with the Falcon ones. M_Fields Quote
Branuss04 Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 I bought a falcon soft bag from cabelas as a secondary bag (I've finally outgrown my big BPS bag, never thought I would fill it when I first got it). Very durable and resonably priced. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 2, 2008 Super User Posted January 2, 2008 Don't waste your money on any of Bass Pro's bags. They aren't worth the effort. Cabela's Advanced Anglers Pro Series bags are quite durable and sturdy. The Super Magnum is the shiz... Quote
bmadd Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 I bought the small BPS Extreme Boat Bag and then used one gallon size zip-loc bags to organize my different plastics. Very economical and I find it very efficient. -Braden Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 2, 2008 Super User Posted January 2, 2008 I like this one. This is (obviously) smaller than the 370 series, but the size is more manageable for me: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_44423_100011010_100000000_100011000_100-11-10 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted January 2, 2008 Super User Posted January 2, 2008 I have the large BPS Extreme worm bag and it fantastic. It holds just about everyting under the sun. It has survived mud, rain and a drop in the water. I have been very pleased with it and would highly recommend it. Quote
S I G M A Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 i have the cabelas advanced anglers backpack... its good if you are on the move... aka don't have a boat.... :-[ Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 The Super Magnum is the shiz... I agree - it's the one I use for my base of operation, although I rarely take the whole thing with me. I usually take a few boxes out and toss them in a backpack along with leader, pliers, gripper/scale, scents, plastics, etc. Quote
TournyFish001 Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 if you are a non-boater that tourny fishes be courtesy of the boater- I Hate it when I get paired with a guy that brings a bag that is big bulky and could easily be the distribution center for bass pro shops!!! LOL but seriously I have had a guy do this a long along with their 10 fishing rods!!! That being said rule of thumb is no more than 5 rods and enough tackle to fill a back pack- thats how I roll when I am fishing with someone else- Quote
fisherdave Posted January 2, 2008 Author Posted January 2, 2008 Thanks for all the suggestions I ended up finding a bag at Academy that is a tournaments choice and it was like 19.99 and it holds alot of stuff but I did notice after I got it home that it dont have a plce for spinners but thats cool I am going to buy a box and just throw it in the boat. It has like 5 bait boxes and some side pockets. I will post a pic later. Thanks agian FisherDave Quote
Super User Micro Posted January 2, 2008 Super User Posted January 2, 2008 I like this one. This is (obviously) smaller than the 370 series, but the size is more manageable for me:http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_44423_100011010_100000000_100011000_100-11-10 The problem I found with this bag is that if you set in on the floor of your boat, and have anything in that front flap, the bottom box won't slide out. You have to tilt the whole bag back to get the bottom box out. Doesn't sound like much, but it was a really pain in the butt. I found myself placing a rolled up towl underneath the front edge of the bag so the front flap would fall out of the way of the bottom box. Then, the other problem arises. The front flap is where the elastic bands are to hold bottles of scents. Unless you take the bottles out, laying the flap down lays the bottles down, or lay the bottles top-down. Not a good idea if there is the slightest leak. I used to carry a bottle of Bactine in my bag for the inevitable line-cuts and hook-sticks. Half the bottle leaked out before I relalized it was leaking. I used that bag for about a year then gave it away. I replaced it with a Gander Mountain/Flambeau bag that looks like a big duffle and holds about 10 370 boxes. The top opens like that Cabelas bag. I have several in different sizes for different lures. Quote
detroit1 Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Which tacklebag/box? I hope you don't fish alone- you wouldn't have anyone to ask what lure to use. ;DSometimes i'm a smart-azz, but dang dude- that's something you can figure out on your own, i hope. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted January 4, 2008 Super User Posted January 4, 2008 I bought one of those BPS bags last year, but I went back to using my old one. After I filled up the bag from BPS it was just to dang heavy. Quote

Well as with any fishing product, there are hundreds of choices, and sometimes other people can tell you about what they have learned about, in this case, tackle boxes/bags, and that information would never have occurred to you on your own. It's kind of the whole point of this site, no? Quote
twors Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Falcon V12 while fishing alone in my boat but I scale back to a Falcon V6 whenever I go out with someone else. Quote
Dirk_Jig---Lure Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 I use 2 super magnums for home storage and keep a smaller falcon bag for on the boat. Quote
detroit1 Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 You are right Tokyo T., sorry fisherdave, i was in a funk yesterday. :-/ Quote

I bought the Okeechobee fats bags at WalMart. 39.99 with 8 boxes. Great bag !!! Quote
