MarauderYak Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 This is NOT intended to start another debate, but I thought some of you might like to see an official response from e21 regarding a couple of recent issues. The following is from an email sent by the President/CEO of the company... CARROT STIX LIFETIME WARRANTY Carrot Stix rods comes with an Original Owner Lifetime Warranty against defects in workmanship or materials. Element 21 wants to continue instill the confidence to you that we take this warranty very seriously and will always honor this warranty policy. CARROT STIX RECENT BREAKAGE Element 21 is aware of the recent breakage of our rods and has not only discovered the reason for the breakage, but also made the necessary corrections in our production cycle to address this problem going forward. Unfortunately there were several thousand rods shipped to customers before we discovered there was a problem. There is only one option Element 21 can do with the rods already in your stores or the rods your customers have purchased and that is to stand behind the workmanship. If there is a defect in the workmanship Element 21 will replace any and all rods that are defective as a result of manufacturing. Zero questions will be asked on manufactures defective Carrot Stix Rods! Boyd Duckett Recently, Element 21 and Boyd Duckett decided to discontinue our partnership. This was a mutually agreed separation and purely a business decision made by both Element 21 and Boyd Duckett. Element 21 has nothing but positive things about our experience with Boyd the last thee years, but both parties decided it was in the best interest to separate at this time. Element 21 thanks Boyd for all that he has done for Carrot Stix and wishes him the best in all his future endeavors. In summary, I want to personally thank all of you for your support and commitment to Carrot Stix rods. Please do not hesitate to email anytime with your questions or concerns. Element 21 will continue to bring you the best and most technologically sound products the fishing industry has seen to date. Kindest regards, Nataliya Hearn Nataliya Hearn, Ph.D., P.Eng. BMoore Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Thanks for posting this. It's the first time I've seen their response. I for one hope they stick around and produce the quality we all expect for our money. I've enjoyed my 2 ltx's but I've been hesitant about the gold stix i want because I'm worried about how long the company will be around. I need to email em about their website. It's horrible. Actually that's been one of my main concerns. How can I take the company seriously when they don't have a decent website that lists all the models. I think the product is there it just seems like they need some leadership. Quote
The_Natural Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 I believe it. They didn't get as big as they are by making a ton of mistakes, and as any successful large company....they will fix this mistake. E21 is and has been selling a ton of Carrot sticks; I have pondered a little how much iternet message board fodder has hurt recent sales, but who really knows. Anyway....they will fix it and move forward....just like Dobyns. Quote

Super User flechero Posted August 4, 2009 Super User Posted August 4, 2009 That's a good response and very polite/professional. Kudos to E-21. Quote
MarauderYak Posted August 4, 2009 Author Posted August 4, 2009 That's a good response and very polite/professional. Kudos to E-21. I've met Dr. Hearn, and she is a VERY intelligent (and seemed to be very nice) lady. She also happens to have beautiful blue eyes & a French accent which doesn't hurt. I still have pretty neutral thoughts about Carrot Stix, but it's always a good sign to have tallented people at the top of a company. BTW, that e-mail was forwarded to me, and not sent directly to me from her (didn't want to give that impression). Quote
dan1942 Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 I had a chance to use a carrot stix over the weekend while fishing with another member from here and it felt really nice the only thing I was not crazy about was the way the grip felt. I am glad they at least acknowledged there was an issue and fixed it (hopefully). Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 I've been abusing these two rods for over a year. No complaints. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted August 5, 2009 Super User Posted August 5, 2009 Hmmm, I wonder where all the naysayers are now? : Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Hmmm, I wonder where all the naysayers are now? : But, but..... they're still ugly! Yeah, ugly! And the guides suck! Yeah, the guides suck! : Quote
Koop Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Hmmm, I wonder where all the naysayers are now? : Words are just that in business, words. : Kudos to them for standing behind their product and moving forward though. At least they admit making a mistake that cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars. Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 I want to see them actually come through with this!!!! Quote

Dave T. Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Hmmm, I wonder where all the naysayers are now? : Actually, it sounds like the naysayers were correct, and E21 confirms it. Great that the company is going to stand behind their product... as they should. They also "say" that they are going to rectify a problem... and yet they don't don't what the problem is??? Whatever the case, I hope they do resolve the issue. Competition is a good thing for us consumers. However, I'm not buying an ORANGE rod, no matter who makes it! Quote
pk Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 E21 had to come out with this statement, especially after losing Boyd Duckett in that fashion. I was a Carrot Stix guy but I sold both of mine after the Duckett incident so I guess now I'm a naysayer. Time is the only thing that will give me confidence in buying another e21 rod. Not a business statement. Quote

Sell both of your rods which I assume you have been happy with for some time bc a pro angler decides to cut ties with a sponsorship... hmmm Quote

Sell both of your rods which I assume you have been happy with for some time bc a pro angler decides to cut ties with a sponsorship... hmmm Hmmm... and now after e21 came out and said there was a problem with those rods, my decision seems to make perfect "sence". Do you really think e21 would have come out and addressed this problem had Boyd Duckett not said anything? Quote
Super User .RM. Posted August 5, 2009 Super User Posted August 5, 2009 I'm wondering how many anglers here would have purchased one of the biggest gimmick stixs produced without the Boyd Duckett name attached to them.... Tight Lines!!! Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted August 5, 2009 Super User Posted August 5, 2009 I'm wondering how many anglers here would have purchased one of the biggest gimmick stixs produced without the Boyd Duckett name attached to them.... Tight Lines!!! Boyd Duckett had nothing to do with my decision to buy one....I liked the way they felt and how light they were....plus I like orange and the gold matches my sol quiet well... I don't know what the cost of production is but I think they need to drop all three series down $50 Quote
