I bought a bottle but haven't seen a reason to use it. Soaking in hot water does the trick for me each and every time and it's free.

I've heard of that before, do you just soak the entire spool before you spool the line onto your reel?  What temp water and how long do you soak it?  I don't understand the science behind it or how its supposed to work, but would give it a shot.

i would also like to point out to everyone that if you look for it....u can find line and lure conditioner from the same company with the exact same ingredients in twice the amount for the same price. the difference? kvd isnt on the bottle. ill try to find it online and post the link........ok i couldnt find it on their site. but i have it. lol.

its alot like the "saltwater formula" on the site but its not that. thats new. hmmm.... was reading the instructions on the site and maybe i WAS applying it wrong on my line. i just recently got some flouro and ive never used it before. thoughts on its affects on that?  last time i tried flouro i took it all off after 5 casts and swore id never buy it again. that was a long time ago though and im sure the technology is better now so i got some on sale.

I take the new spool and soak it in the sink with almost as hot as it goes for about 20 minutes.

If you reel is already spooled just take the entire spool off the reel and soak that.  I use 8000 spinning reels with 15 or 20# and the coiling gets bad this prevents it...........Twist is different issue altogether.

hm I'll have to give it a try.

It works great on PowerPro - and this is from experience, not "hype".  I've used it on all my lines (P-Line, Trilene, PowerrPro) with positive results (smoother casts, less line memory, etc).

Be sure to shake it up well before use, and coat your line with it at least 24 hours before the first use.  Then you can spray it on during use thereafter.

KVD Line and Lure will give you a 100% refund if you're not satisfied.  But please, if you do have a problem with it, please send in the line that's having the issue.  It will help them determine what the problem is.

Ditto that.  Guys in my club were amazed at the fact that my year old green and red Power Pro weren't white and pink.

I'll give you a little anecdote about KVD L&L.  Last winter I asked Rob Faddis if they had any plans to develop a line conditioner for sub freezing conditions.  My issue was water freezing in the pores of the mono, making the line stiff, and unmanageable.  As the water in absorbed by the mono freezes, it starts to pick up chunks of ice, building up to the point where the terminal rig looked like an icicle with line in the middle, LOL.

I told him the only way I could displace the water was to use a silicone based spray, but that quickly wore off.  I tried using KVD L&L on that line, but it didn't really help.

Rob recommended I start with fresh mono and use a couple of applications before fishing.  What a difference!  I could tell what the line conditioner was doing because as the water collected on the line, I could see it bead up and roll off, just like what happens with a fresh shot of the silicone spray.  The difference is it lasted more than a few casts.

On exceptionally cold days, those beads would freeze after a few minutes, but they weren't bound to any frozen water in the line, so a quick rap to the reel knocked most of the frozen droplets from the spool, and plucking the terminal end like a bow string removed the rest.

Here's the deal: it basically seems to seal all the imperfections in the line, and leaves a slick, polished surface behind.  The stuff quite plainly works, if used right.

My leftover silicone spray is now relegated to squeaky door hinges.  ;)

I think if you try Line & Lure with the hot water treatment you are talking about you will see great benefit from Line & Lure. As a saltwater angler myself, I find one of the greatest benefits other then the line management benefits is the salt rejection and anti-corrosion properties the product offers. Really keeps gear in great shape with minimal cleaning needed. It eliminates the need for products like Salt X or Corrosion X that are needed after salt corrosion become a problem.

Someone said that Line & Lure and Reel Magic/WD-40 are the same thing.  Nothing could be farther from the truth.  Reel Magic and WD-40 are petroleum oils and are listed in some states as toxic agents and are banned for use in or on the water.  Line & Lure is a water-based blend of non-toxic polymers that do not pollute and actually react with the line to extend line life and make it more manageable.  Used properly Line & Lure benefits can last all day unlike the other products mentioned here that need to be reapplied many times during the day.

Remember that Line & Lure is not a spray and cast product like some others. You will see the greatest benefit by pre-applying it to your gear a couple of hours before fishing. I highly recommend that it be applied after a day of fishing also. This will keep your equipment protected and conditioned while in storage and it will be ready for your next trip to the water. If you have any specific questions about Line & Lure, feel free to call me personally at 972 221-9797. I love to hear from you.

Thank you, I appreciate your post and I'm sure KVD is a good product, the accolades I've read bear that out.

Corosion x and salt x have been doing a fine job and my gear stays in excellent condition, but if I find failure I surely will try KVD.
