central_fl_fishin Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 I have always wanted a Curado, but always settled for what were reviewed as just as good FW bass reels for less. I own and use weekly Daiwas, Abu's and Pfluegers.... For my birthday my parents went ahead and got me the Curado 200E7. Yesterday I went out and got some 20lb PP braid, spooled it up and hooked up my usual florida rigged 1/4oz 7" grape culprit worm rig. The first cast went at least 10 yards further than what I am used too! Man...there really is a difference. I use calcutta's for SW inshore and know they are great, but for light tackle I could not believe the difference this reel made. Shimano has put some design work into this reel! Quote
Tanker4lyfe Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Yup this is true and ive seen and read forums of people selling theyre other reels in for these (Well i did to haha). Ive got a few and they are nice, and i dont care what anyone says YOU CANNOT BEAT THE PRICE. You should also try the Citica E's. I actually like them better for lighter stuff. Quote
TheHammer84 Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Just got one myself. Awesome reel, awesome value. Quote
infamous512 Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 It really is a fine reel, very smooth and easy to cast light lures. Quote
rubba bubba Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 I'm having Carrot Stix deja vu. vu ja stix? Quote
Crowcommander Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Just received 2 0f E7s and 2 E5s and was pleasantly surprised to find JAPAN stamped on bottom of reel foot. They're spooled up and ready to go tomorrow if this rain lets up. We've had about 8 inches this past week. Quote
pk Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 I've been using my 3 E7s and 1 E5 for the past two weeks and I gotta say they are so much better than my Revo SXs. Quote
Bass Pro Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Curado E's are nice.. It's a most have. I've been using the Citica E and it performs nicely as well. I am still amazed at how well it can cast down to 1/8oz lures. Quote
tritz18 Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Its a great reel, I have the e5 for crankin and soon I will have the e7 for soft plastics. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 3, 2009 Super User Posted August 3, 2009 The Curado 200E7 compares favorably with the more expensive Shimano models. I consider the Curado a "Best Value" reel that anyone would be very happy with. 8-) Quote
triwbass Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 i use revo s and sx's but today my curado e5 was delivered ,,my first shimano ,,,got it for a crankbait reel and cant wait to give it a fling....i like my revos though the sx i use for light flipping pitching and the s i like better than the sx for casting,,,,,ill have a report on the new curado e5 tomorrow Quote

Uncle Leo Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Both are good for light baits. I have a Curado E and my partner has a Citica E so I was able to try both. Either will do the job. But for $50 more the Curado is much smoother. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted August 3, 2009 Super User Posted August 3, 2009 Which do you guys consider better for casting light (1/8-1/4 oz.) baits? Curado or Citica? Curado and the proper rod. Quote

Stagerlee Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Curado's are nice reels, still have to save up for mine but my Abu Garcia Revo's are keeping me busy with bites. 8-) Quote
0119 Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Well I got to admit, I didnt think it could get better than the D model. It was strong, smooth and I thought the weight was only an issue with babies. When I got the E I thought, and still think, that the drag star and cast control knob look more like plastic than metal. I hate the metal flake "Bling" and prefer the more subdued look of the D. I took both the 100D and the 200E out yesterday and the E smoked it in smoothness and solid feeling. I still dont think its as strong "feeling" as the 200D which doesnt seem to be as labored by buzzbaits or bigger baits. But the E is a light, smooth joy to use. Quote
