Redsyn Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 How long have you had it and when was the last time it was serviced? maybe it needs new drags? Quote

sweet daddy Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 I don't have any fuego's, but I have a few zillions, and one steez that never fail. If you bought it at a big box store return it, if you picked it up at a mom and pops tackle shop your screwed, and in that case you need to find a daiwa certified repair center to fix it. Quote
Super User David P Posted July 30, 2009 Super User Posted July 30, 2009 I have 2 Fuegos, and haven't noticed anything like this... Only problem I had with one of them was my spool, sent it into Daiwa and they replaced the spool and shipped it back all free of charge. Quote

Check to see if the line is slipping on the spool. Have seen even light weight mono slip on the spools..... Also check to see if the spool is slipping excessively, you can do this by placing your thumb on the spool lightly feathering it to feel any slippage when hook setting... Also could be a softer tip on the rod. There are a lot of variable's not just a reels drags.. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!! Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 30, 2009 Super User Posted July 30, 2009 Check to see if the line is slipping on the spool. This gets my vote too. Did we establish what type of line is on the reel? if its braid, I'd say the line is slipping on the spool. The remedy is a mono backer. Quote

Braided line ? You need mono backing Nylon/copoly/Fluro ? Fuegos do not have wet drag system, they have dry drag system, the only drawback of the drag system in those reels is that it 's very suceptible to malfunction ( studdering and/or lack of pressure ) if the drag pads get contanimated with any kind of lubricant. The problem can be solved by cleaning the drag pads, but since you are already at it better change the drag pads with Carbontex drag pads. Do not tighten the drag all the way down to get more power, you can damage the drag system. Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted July 30, 2009 Author Super User Posted July 30, 2009 the line is 17 lb sufix siege. ive never had line slip on the spool that i know of this its possible this is whats happening. just for your info the rod is a Falcon Cara T7 6'6" MHT. Quote
