Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted July 26, 2009 Super User Posted July 26, 2009 i recently bought some "PRO'S SOFT BAIT GLUE " and tried it out on some frogs and i was very dissapointed to say the least !!!! this stuff comes in a 1/2 oz. bottle for $8.69 . did i just buy a VERY expensive bottle of super glue , cause it dried the same way ; very brittle !! was wondering if '' MEND-IT " is the same kind of product ( dries like super-glue) and if so is there any other product on the market that will work like the company says it does on the bottle ???? what do you guys use for fixing your soft plastics besides using a lighter and melting them back together ? cause i have tried that but that way only seems to work for 1 or 2 fish then it is torn again :-/ anyhow , if i can get some reccomendations i'd appreciate it , thanks ... FishDontLikeMe1301600221 Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 mendit works great for me.otherwise ill also use the lighter method but rather then melt it back together ill take some old plastics and melt those in the holes/tears,works alot better then reforming and scrunching the torn one back together, cause if you scruntch it together to melt it once your done and fish it again its going to want to stretch and the pressure will just tear it again, hence using spare plastics to melt back together, but yea mend it works great.my buddy uses some stuff from gorilla glue thats pretty strong. FishDontLikeMe1301600221 Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 med it fuses it togehter its not really a glue imo, cause a: it doesnt leave your fingers rock hard lol b: it doesnt make the plastic hard and it doesnt make that flaky white crap everywhere.but when its done its a nice clean fix/joint and it lasts, its just like a new plastic, like it was never tore or ripped b4. Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted July 26, 2009 Author Super User Posted July 26, 2009 thanks , i'm gonna return this stuff and get some mend-it . i appreciate it Quote
21farms Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 mend-it is a plastic solvent. it fuses plastic together and does not harden like super glue or other glues. mended lures are as soft as they were originally. mend-it works great. now, instead of throwing my torn-up senkos, basstrix, sweet beavers, and ikas away after a few fish, i save them all up and fix 'em when i get home and use them all over again...it's great. Koop Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Mend it works great, Venom worm glue works good as well. Quote
aarogb Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Mend-It will be your best bet. Mend-It melts the plastic then it bonds it back super strong. Be careful though, don't pull apart the tear while you are squirting the glue in there because it will make the tear bigger. Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted July 26, 2009 Super User Posted July 26, 2009 The lighter method has worked for me quite satisfactorily. Quote
catchbig0bass Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Hey guys. I just picked up mighty mendit last night and tried it out. Seemed to work ok on a few senko's but wondering if there are different versions. The one I picked up states its mostly used for fabric. Is this the right stuff. Just wondering if there was a different version meant for soft plastics. Quote
21farms Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 wrong stuff. there's only one mend-it: http://www.menditglue.com/ Quote
