Super User FishTank Posted January 2, 2008 Super User Posted January 2, 2008 I saw these at local bait shop. They looked awesome but at $6 a piece are they worth it? I am bid fan of their worm weights but I have been happy with Booyah Jigs for so long I find it hard to change. Anybody got any thoughts on these things? Quote
Super User Tin Posted January 2, 2008 Super User Posted January 2, 2008 If it aint broke dont fix it Quote
BassFishingMachine Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 I got a couple of these but I haven't had a chance to fish with them yet. But I can tell you this, its a real nice jig, definetly quality. The skirt is just beautiful. Yeah there expensive so I don't know how much many more I'll buy cause I lose jigs too often, but its definetly a quality lure. Quote
Cory20 Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 I bought one last season because I was curious...black w/blue 1/2 oz Great feel on the bottom. Incredible skirt action. Poorly placed rattle. Poor trailer retention. Nice hooks. my face on every little snag. That's just not how I like to fish. Quote
TournyFish001 Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 if you are ever so slightly concerned on the price do not buy it- not all jigs are created equal but they are d**n close- Quote
Other. Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 I actually like the Tru-Tungsten Jig. There is nothing AMAZING but I like the jig head. Its smaller but ways the same since its Tungsten and has a different sound when it hits rocks then lead does. Quote
jfowler Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 i used to use standard jig heads until i came across a lure called jig x it is by far the best jig on the market totall weedless design like no other. Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted January 2, 2008 Super User Posted January 2, 2008 I fish the Tru-Tungsten 75% of the time in the spring. I have at least three jigs in every color they make. My two favorite colors are green pumpkin and green pumpkin and brown. I have a two 3700 style planos stuffed full of nothing but Tru-Tungstens. I don't pay $6 a piece for them any more though. I wait for Tackle Warehouse to have them on sale and buy in very large quantities. Quote
senko_77 Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 IMHO Yes. The only complaint I have on this jig is what pretty much everyone else says, and that's the rattle. It's bulky and I think in some cases can impede the hookset. It sure is loud, but personally, I don't think rattles make alot of difference. As far as the hook, skirt, jighead, and weedgaurd goes, it's all topnotch. If you want a nice jig, you have to pay a little more money. The same goes for rods, reels, crankbaits, etc. Just some advice, usually when I take it out of the package, I do the normal modifications. I trim the skirt to about 1/8" below the bend of the hook in an angled fashion, and I trim the weedgaurd like a set of stairs. There really isn't a reason to sharpen the hook as it comes out of the package needle sharp. Hope this helps Quote
BassFishingMachine Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Oh yeah everyone is right I didn't even notice it. I just took a good look at the few Tru-Tungsten Jigs I have and noticed like everyone else said there is no barb coming out of the jig head that most other jigs have, the barb that holds the trailer in place, there is no barb what so ever. Hopefully the trailer stays on there well as I don't know cause I haven't had a chance to fish it yet. I don't know how they could not put a barb on the jighead though, blows my mind. Quote
