Shimano Clarus

Can I get some reviews on this rod? I want to know how you like this rod.

How is the sensitivity of it?

It's a solid rod, with great warranty. It is also sufficiently sensitive to get you around. If you seen my crankbait post, you will see that I landed that trout with a curado 101D and you guessed it, a Medium action 6'6" Clarus. And a 2-piece version to boot!  The Clarus line has a decent selection of rods to cover many techniques. They are stiff competition at their price point. 8-)

I have two Clarus rods, hard to find better rod for the money, hard to find so many models in a single brand, lot 's of lengths, power ratings and actions from where to choose.

Sensitive ? much better than a Lightning Rod.

I have a Clarus 7'6" 2 pc mlf spinning..not as sensitive as my Calcutta, or my BPS Rick Clunn, but well worth the $$$ imho..I use this rod for light baits and long cast's from shore, it has a surprising amount of back bone for such a light rod.

It's definitely not a Cumara, but the Clarus rods are pretty awesome IMO. They won the freshwater award at ICAST last year.

I have a 6'6" Med power, medium fast action casting that I use mainley for poppers and the occasional spinnerbait.

Great rod: affordable, descent sensitevity (not that I need it for topwater) and it isn't too heavy.

I own 6 of them and no complaints ,matter of fact its  the most expensive rods i own besides a few falcons will i buy more YUP

This is my 2nd season with my Shimano Clarus, 6'-6" medium action, model CSS-66M2A. On July 11th it broke on me for the 2nd time since I have owned it landing a 10" Rainbow trout. It left me stranded a mile, 1 hour hike, from my truck with no way to continue fishing. I had to send it back to Shimano for a 2nd time this year (season) for a replacement, which now just sits in my garage taking up space. I now understand why they have a lifetime warranty.

I am 48 years old, have my California Lifetime fishing license, and have been fishing the same way my dad taught me as a child my entire life. I hike down into high sierra and cascade range mountain canyons to fish rivers and streams, usually following animal trails and climbing over many boulders on my typical fishing days. And yes, my rod gets dropped now and again. In the past I have used Berkley, Mitchell, and other No-Name brand rods and I had NEVER broken any fishing rod in my life until this one.

The Shimano Clarus is a fragile, wimpy fishing rod. It can't take the slightest beating or abuse, and as far as I'm concerned this rod is the Prima Donna of the fishing rod world. I will never purchase another one of these rods and I have already replaced mine with a 6' 6" Cabela's Fish Eagle II, which did just as well as the Clarus for me last Saturday, July 17th.

Sorry you had a bad experience with this line. Mine has been the exact opposite. I have landed a 20" trout just a couple weeks ago and countless other fish.  It also takes the abuse of being one of my "trunk" rods so I think it gets a decent amount of bangining and vibrating around.  

Sometimes I wonder if there are people out there that damage the rod in the stores and then we buy them and we wind up breaking because of the damage that was already done before we touched them. I was at a walmart handling a fenwick.  All I did was wiggle the rod and it snapped about 4" from the top. I think someone abused it beforehand.

It fought like the Dickens, easily handled on a Medium Action Casting Clarus.

BTW,  How is the cabela's Fish Eagle 2 rod. They seem to be a decent value.

Rods can break, sometimes is manufacturer error, other times is operator error and sometimes is vendor error, in my experience purchasing rods very seldomly it is manufacturer error.

My experience with the Clarus line of rods is been excellent.
