Jake. Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 I hope they don't feel anything like the TFO fly rods.... Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted July 16, 2009 Super User Posted July 16, 2009 $99 loomis rods are really interesting!!!what if they are lifetime warranty and as good as a glx?this could change the whole rod market. Quote
Stasher1 Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 From what I'm seeing on their site, they're only offering 2, 3, and 4 pc. rods. No one-piece rods in the lineup at all. :-? I'll pass. Quote

What's listed is not the line up. This line is expected to be available around Sept with 28 one and two piece spinning and casting set ups. 6' - 7', fast action rods. Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Heck i will buy one! Nothing to lose really because if i don't like it i can sale it. Quote
Stasher1 Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Way to read the article... The loomis designed rods aren't out yet. If you follow the links to their main site, they show several "conventional" spinning and casting rods. Read beyond the article. : We've started production of 28 one and two piece rods in both spinning and casting configurations in 6', 6 ½' and 7' lengths. Gee, from the looks of it, they're already building them. Is it that unreasonable to think they might actually be listed on their site? Quote

catchbig0bass Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 The funny thing is all of these 300$ loomis rods and what not probably have such a high markup think about the cost of matirials that goes into a rod. Can't be more than maybe 60$ or so. Why wouldn't a company be able to manufacture a quality rod at high productions rates to sell them at a cheaper rate and probably have the same income ratio as loomis that sell fewer yet higher profit. ChiCityBasser Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Sounds interesting and guess it's gonna be a wait and see process and it has my interest peaked as far as the new rods. I'm not a rod builder but I think it can be done also but JMO Quote

David, I hope YOU buy a few blanks or finished rods so we have a professional, unbiased opinion on the goods. I'm sure there will be lots of reviews on various websites, but I would sure like to hear your take. -Kent Quote
Super User flechero Posted July 17, 2009 Super User Posted July 17, 2009 Gee, from the looks of it, they're already building them. Is it that unreasonable to think they might actually be listed on their site? Considering the announcement was only a few day old and that all the models currently on the site are travel rods... and that the press release said the new ones are all 1 & 2 piece, yes... I think it's safe to assume the new models are yet to be listed. Quote

Super User flechero Posted July 17, 2009 Super User Posted July 17, 2009 No, I didn't mean that... David is only building on St. Croix blanks! (When we last spoke about it) Quote
Super User .RM. Posted July 17, 2009 Super User Posted July 17, 2009 Back in the 90's GL blanks were all I would build on. In 2003 when the Shimano®/G-Loomis® game started, the first thing we noticed was a difference in the quality of the blanks offered to rod builders. That's when we decided to go exclusively with SC. Now when GL opens and produces the North Fork Composites blanks for builders you can bet I will have to check them out.. I just hope that my distributor decides to let her differences with GL end, and carry GL's new blanks... We will see, what we will see.... Tight Lines!!! Quote
