I just picked up a new G Loomis GLX CR722C Casting Rod 6' M yesterday ($199 on eBay) and Im looking for suggestions for a new reel.  I really like the lighter reels so what are some choices that I should consider?

Ive looked at the Core and its nice but Im courious as to what others have used and the pros/cons.  Should I wait for the new Core, is there going to be a big difference with the new model?

I'd wait at least until tonight or tomorrow morning.  should be some new reviews from ICAST.

Daiwa Pixy would be great on that rod

I just do not think I could have a reel called a Pixy.  And why not get another Steez or Zillion? Daiwa makes some good reels as you already know. Get a revo premier before the start making them ugly.

I really like the steez and other daiwa reels but I thought it might be a good chance to try other upscale reels on this new rod.  The Revo Premier looks interesting and I will make sure to check them out.

The core is very nice, but with the new model coming out, I'd pass on the original... the new one is rumored to be lighter and has a higher bearing count... to me that seems like they are shooting to make it buttery smooth, perhaps to compete directly with the steez. ? And I think the price will be about the same as the old one so there would be no reason to get an old one unless they discount them to make room for the new models.

IMO, the Revo Premier isn't what you want on that 722...  the Premier isn't going to be as cooperative with the light baits as a steez, core or pixy.

The new Core is probably the ticket,

but as Raul suggested on the other

thread, the CH50MG is PERFECT and

can be bought right now!

Shop around if you choose this option. The

price should be $150-$185 delivered, not

full bore retail.

List of reels I sit on my CR722:

Chronarch 50 Mg

Scorpion 1000 Mg

Liberto Pixy

Alphas Itö

Alphas Type F

Alphas R Edition

TDZ 105H

I do own the Core, gr8 reel, but not for my CR722.

It 's a 7 reel list for a single rod, from 7 reels in that list I and I find them all to be a perfect match, but 5 are imports which you may not find to your liking, then from those 5 two are discontinued reels that 's not so easy to find in tip top condition, but the Chronarch Mg can still be found if you shop around.

However, it 's your money so you are the boss.
