bass wrangler569 Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Well I was out fishing monday and I was throwing a spinnerbait on my 6'6 med carrot stix when the rod snapped in half in the middle of a cast. I don't know what caused it to happen. As far as I know it didn't have any nicks in the blank or anything. Anyway, here lies the problem... I'm an idiot. I misplaced the little card that came with it that apparently has the warranty info. So what are my options? :-/ Quote
von Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 I think you can take the broken rod back to the place where you purchased it from and get a new one off the rack. Quote

Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted July 2, 2009 Super User Posted July 2, 2009 I think you can take the broken rod back to the place where you purchased it from and get a new one off the rack. The best part about their warranty is this, take it back to where you got it, and supposedly it will be replaced, no questions asked. Quote
bigtimfish Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 It happend to my buddy, he brought it back to BPS and got a full exchange. No questions asked. He didnt even buy it from there. Quote

I have a friend who broke two while casting in that spot. I've seen quite a few breaking there. I think they tried to take a little too much weight out of them. But they should cover that without the warranty card as it has been an issue. Just take back to where you bought it (assuming you bought it from a shop). Quote

KevO Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 I broke mine about a month ago, I didn't send in the warranty card either. So I called *** where I bought and they said just send it back to them. I had a new one in less than a week. Quote

Ovrbdgt Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Kinda par for the course with all the hoopla about Light weight rods, something has to give. The website shows that you can return it to the store and they will give you a new one. Just print out the webpage and bring is back with the broken one. They are solid on there policy, never read a bad story. Quote
old bassman Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 I'm sure the shop where you purchased the rod will honor the warranty and replace the stick. If not leave it in the yard for Buggs Bunny!!! Quote
Jake Soda Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 my carrot stix also broke in between the first guide and the handle. I ordered the rod online because I dont live near any shop that sells them. I contacted Sean @ E21 and he said to take pictures and email him and he would send a new rod without any issues. However, after over a month of making phone calls and sending emails and trying to get ahold of E21, nothing ever happened. Speaking to anybody other than an answering machine was near impossible! After over a month of getting frustrated, I asked the secretary to speak to a manager. She said he'd call me back, but of course I never heard from them. After giving up on ever getting a new rod from E21, I drove 3 hours to Bass pro where they couldnt return or exchange the rod because they didnt have a 6'6 M. However, there is a happy ending- a st. croix avid once Bass pro online said they would send me shipping labels to return the piece of crap that is a carrot stix. Quote
schoolofperch Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 I bought the 6'7" M carrot yesterday a few hours away at BPS. Didn't fish at all last night, and was eager to get up this morning and put some line in the water. Here is the scenario: Two uncles and a cousin have been giving me hell about dropping 150 bucks on a rod (a bright orange one at that). We wake up and head to the pier in Pentwater, MI at 6 AM. 6:15 we arrive. 6:17 I make my first cast. 6:17:01 i realize that I've just cast my rod into two pieces. I can't blame my family for laughing at me for two hours, before I decided to walk a mile home, broken pole in hand. After reading about similar issues--just now--I think I would rather firebomb E21, than send my pole back. I feel pretty duped. Quote
twelvebass Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Sounds alot like my ordeal. My dealer is a cretin who would not get another medium action. Local BPS would not since I didn't but it there(don't blame them). Contacted Sean, sent pics, it took 3 months, before I got a replacement, and it was not the same rod as what I originally purchased. It was a different tip. So I can't give the service department much love but I do still like the rod. If you got to keep your broke rod, cut out a few inches, cover smaller section with JB Weld, insert in to larger diameter end, let set, and you have a goog top water rod. Or that is what I did. Quote

Do over the counter warranties require that you take the rod back to the original place of purchase? I thought you could take them to any retailer that carries those rods and that retailer should honor the warranty. Quote
