JCMAN Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 If you had to pick one rod, what action and power ,and one reel ,and one kind of line for all the bass fishing you do to use with all your lures and baits what would you use ???? i dont have many poles and i am just curious what the best bet would be for everything. NHfroggin Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Here is what i would Pick, great all around set-up, Reel:Shimano Stradic 2500 Rod: Shimano Compre 6'6" Medium Line: Suffix Elite 8# mono -matt- Quote
Super User Raul Posted July 3, 2009 Super User Posted July 3, 2009 Rod.- GLoomis CR723 or MBR783 IMX Reel.- tough one but Shimano Chronarch 50 Mg or Team Daiwa TDZ 103 H Quote
War Party Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 A 6'6" med fast or MH fast. You can find rods that are labeled med or medheavy that in actuality fall more in one direction or another. The St Croix Avid medium power/fast action feels more powerful and fast that others that I have tried. The Team All Star rod with the same designation feels more light in power and less fast in speed. The Avid casting 6'6" MF with a Shimano Calcutta 100B or the Team Allstar 6'6" MH with a Citica 200E. One combo costs about 150 dollars less and will be (almost!) just as enjoyable to fish with. :-X Quote
wisturkeyhunter Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Its not practical cause I do throw alot of weightless plastcs and alot of baits over 2 ounces, occasionally 4 ounce baits too. If I had to choose I'd take a medium heavy 7 foot st.croix legend elite, zillion real, and 15 pound cxx line. Although this rod is rated to just 1 ounce I have succesful fished heavier baits up to 2 ounces. If my fishing keeps going the way its headed I might drop the mh for a swimbait rod. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted July 3, 2009 Super User Posted July 3, 2009 My favorite all around rod. 7' G-Loomis MBR843C IMX M/H fast action Shimano Chronarch 50mg #10-12 Mono. OR My favorite worm rod. 7'1 G-Loomis BCR853 GLX extra fast action Shimano Calcutta TE 100DC #14 Mono Quote
Skunked in DR Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 One rod and reel? Then it would be a 7' MF spinning rod with a 2500 size reel loaded with 20/6 braid. Can do (just about) everything reasonably, if nothing exceptionally. Quote
ArcticCat500 Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 GBlanks Custom Rods Rainshadow RX8+ 6'6" MXF Daiwa Fuego 2500 PowerPro 20lb spinning gear. it may be a tough choice when my new GBlanks RX8+ 6'8" MHXF spinning comes in this week. Tierra 2500 20lb braid Quote

Bassoholics Anonymous Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 Here is what i would Pick, great all around set-up, Reel:Shimano Stradic 2500 Rod: Shimano Compre 6'6" Medium Line: Suffix Elite 8# mono -matt- That's about what I would pick, but I'd take my 6' Med-Fast IMX, and I've been liking some of the co-polys I've been using lately. Great setup for soft plastics, but versatile that you can throw just about anything with it. Quote
