c17Lat Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the least expensive fluoro out there, and I'm considering buying some. But does the low price mean low quality? How has this line been for those that have used it? Quote
Super User grimlin Posted June 29, 2009 Super User Posted June 29, 2009 I hated the line.It split like a banana peel 10 feet from the lure.I would cut off, retie and it would do it again after a couple of casts. So i ended up stripping and tossing it out. That experience turned me away from it. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 29, 2009 Super User Posted June 29, 2009 I bought a rod last spring at the local Fishing Exposition. The vendor gave me a spool of Vicious Fluorocarbon to try for free. I spooled it up for one outing. I thought it was worth EXACTLY what I paid for it! : Quote
aarogb Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 It works pretty good for me. Of course there are better lines out there, but I don't exactly have all the money in the world, so I will just stick with it until it gives me a reason to change lines. Quote
gkeniston Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I bought some of this junk at cabelas. I got the 15lb stuff and I cant cast it without backlash. I wouldnt buy it again, I wouldnt accept it for free either. Nothing makes for a more dissapointing fishing trip that equipment failure. Stay away from this junk! Quote
auburn bass man Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Wow, they are rally pushing Vicious down south and especially in Alabama. I thought about trying some after my experience with Vanish. Maybe ill look elsewhere Quote
c17Lat Posted June 29, 2009 Author Posted June 29, 2009 wow i guess i'll stay away from this stuff. I wonder if the vicious pro staff actually uses it. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted June 29, 2009 Super User Posted June 29, 2009 It's junk. Stiff, frays, very little manageability, and tough cinching knots in greater than 12lb. I have 17lb as a leader on my flipping stick only because I have it and not opposed to retying the leader after every fish. Quote
Big O Tires Angler Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 I was at Wally World the other day picking up something and saw that they had some Vicious Fluorocarbon and picked up a spool of 8# and 15#. Spooled up the 15# on my Revo SX and I was getting a little bit of overrun using lighter baits (ie. 6" fat tail Roboworm with 1/8 oz bullet weight). But after I tied on a 5" Senko I didn't have any problems. I didn't notice any fraying of the line and I didn't notice any issues with knots either. I've heard a lot of good things about this line on other forums... Quote
Super User South FLA Posted June 30, 2009 Super User Posted June 30, 2009 I bought and used a spool of vicious about a year ago. Unless, they have changed something in their production process I can tell you it is HORRIBLE. It had absolutely zero abrasion resistance, was inconsistent in diameter to the touch, and broke easily. Avoid it at all cost. Gerald Swindle may be a pitchman for them, but I highly doubt its what is spooled on his reels Quote
coontreer Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Hands down, no questions asked.......worst line that I have ever used. Do yourself a huge favor and stay away from it! Quote

uicdent11 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Junk! I have only used two flourocarbon lines and I will stick with Trilene 100% for now. Quote
sweet daddy Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Is this the same line that has that little sawed of idiot who needs a bigger boat? Quote
jack1 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 WowI've used Vicious for about two seasons now with great results. Never had a break-off yet (knock on wood), tough line, and great price. I've caught tons of bass and huge channel cats with it without any problems. Heck, I've heard so much praises of the Trilene 100% that I decided to give it a shot this year and I cannot explain how disappointed I am with it. I took that junk off, spooled the Vicious line back on and never had a problem since. I don't know what to say, everybody's experiences are different, but in my experience with this lineI had great results and will continue to buy it until I run into these problems many of you here have experienced. Wow...really?! If my house catches fire, you'll see me standing on my lawn in my underwear....holding my bulk spools of Trilene 100%. Quote
jack1 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 YepI bought a new spool of Trilene 100% - 12 lb. Very first cast with a Booyah spinnerbait along with a 20 ft section of that line went flying and never came back. I didn't even feel that line snap on its way out. I had numerous times where the line would break on a hook set. Frustrated with it, I took it off and decided to just use it as a leader on my braided lines. Even as a leader, I had multiple break offs below the knot. I really don't know what to say. This was not the line everybody was praising about. I really had high expectations of it since many anglers love it. My first time using it was horrible. Could it have been that maybe I just bought a bad spool? Yeah, but because of that horrible 1st time experience, I'm a bit more hesitant on dropping another $18 on it. Maybe I'll take another shot at it to see if I'll get better results with a new spool, but until thenVicious has not let me down yet. Quote
