Crappiebasser Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 I have a 12 year nephew that has started to fish tourneys with me and he needs a dedicated shakey head spinning rod. I am looking for something like my Loomis 822 but for around $100. Any suggestions? Quote

KevO Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Shimano crucial DS rod 6'8 MXF is a great rod for all finesse fishing not just drop shots. It's a little more than what you want to pay at $140 but worth every penny. Quote
OIFBasser Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I have a 6'6" Compre MXF it works great for shakey heads, and it's $100. I also use a 7'6" Falcon lowrider MF Quote
uicdent11 Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Used Avid 68MXF or I would second the Crucual 68MXF dropshot rod. Quote
skno Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 For a 12 yr old I would lean toward a berkley shock or something you wouldnt be upset if it was destroyed rather quickly. I only say this knowing myself when I was 12. Quote
etommy28 Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 check out Big Bear Rods, they are not well know but make great rods for the price. or look at an ugly stick or berkley rod. they would all 3 make a great choise. Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted June 30, 2009 Super User Posted June 30, 2009 I picked up a Fenwick Elite Tech walleye riggin rod on fleabay for under $100. I got lucky. Though I bought it for Lindy rigs for 'eyes, it makes a killer shakey rod for bass...nice soft tip, sensitive, etc. Quote
basspro96 Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Bass Pro Shops. Woo Daves 6'8 Extreme rod. 99 dollars when not on sale like 80 when on sale. It also has a split grip and makes a fantastic drop shot rod also. Quote
aarogb Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 My shakey head/drop shot rod is a 7' M Shimano Compre spinning rod. It will run you about $110.00 and when you buy from Tackle Warehouse it is free shipping. Quote
