Fishing forums in Brazil, U.S. Reel is showing as a new product, its qualities and generated some discussion.

I suspect that it is not news to you, so I would like to clarify some doubts:

- In what year was it launched?

- If someone has already used it, could be more like it or not.

- If you like, why?

I bought the original, directly from Ray Scott and spoke

with the President of U.S. Reel regarding a plastic backing

they offered at the time. The reels were first built in St. Louis,

but are now assembled or manufactured in China.

My experience with the original reel was dreadful and although

the reels were recalled for repair or replacement, I was never

notified. Specifically, the reel was poorly machined and had

rough spots which were very noticeable on retrieve, right out

of the box. The reel seemed heavy and unbalanced. Although

designed, supposedly, for light line applications, the reel capacity

was more suitable for deep sea fishing!

On the positive side...Randall, Senior BassResource.com member

and professional guide, likes and recommends the new reels.

I highly regard his opinions and advice, so keep that in mind.

Bottom line: You will have to judge the reel for yourself and

see what you think, but be sure you can return the reel if you

are not satisfied.

I don 't think Welington is going to be able to just return the reel, if I remember correctly he 's in Brazil.
