Super User 5bass Posted June 11, 2007 Super User Posted June 11, 2007 Just curious as to the different ways you guys work the swimmin senkos......I basically fish it like a regular senko until it hits bottom, then I bump it along just fast enough to keep the tail kickin'.....how do you do it? Quote
Bass XL Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Just about the same, except I put a 1/8 oz. slide weight. Quote
Lightninrod Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 I find them to work better T-rigged with a bullet-weight. The 1/4-3/8 oz weight makes the fall faster and the special tail works then whereas weightless, it won't. I do fish it weightless when wacky-rigged and it works just fine then. Dan Quote
acar555 Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Here is some good infor on fishing the swimming senko. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/community/inthefield/fieldguides/guidebooks-category.jsp?hierarchyId=92&oiPage=fieldguides Then just click on the How to fish a Swim Senko. Quote
Redtail Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 acar - I was wondering the same thing - thanks for the great article! Quote

Dan After seeing a post that Dan made in the Outing section where he wacky-rigged a swimmin senko, I went out and tried and and slammed them. The senko bite that I had found has kinda tapered off but while it was on, the swimmin senko caught tons of decent fish for me. So when I do fish them, I fish them wacky. Quote
krisjack69 Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 How do u fish it wacky.just like a senko or yum dinger. Quote
basspro48 Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 I haven't done great with the swimming senko but I have caught some decent fish t-rigging it with an 1/8oz bullet weight. Throw it out and retrieve it slowly along the bottom, just fast enough to keep the tail kickin. Quote
SimonSays Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 I usually use a 1/8 or 1/4 bullet weight T-rigged. I normally use a med-fast retrieve to fast retrieve. I've caught a good number of fish during the fall with it, but I've never thought to actually let it hit the bottom first before I start my retrieve...so I'll give that a shot next time. Quote
Cory20 Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 Is anyone using a weighted hook, i.e. falcon? If so what weight/size? The article says to use a heavy 5/0 hook, screw in bullet somewhere around 1/4 oz, and 17-20 lb test. I'd like to be able to use a lighter gauge hook/lighter tackle and not have it spin. Maybe I don't need to "lighten up" in a clear, heavily pressured reservoir to be successful with this bait and presentation? I've never fished them but am excited to try them. Thanks Cory Quote
BassFishingMachine Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 You guys saying your t-rigging them are you pegging them? Or letting the weight slide free? Quote
SimonSays Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 For me not pegged, but letting the weight ride free Quote
Super User FishTank Posted December 31, 2007 Super User Posted December 31, 2007 Here are the two ways I fish it. 1. I Texas rig it with a 3/16oz weight and fish like a regular senko but not with as many quick jerks. 2. I fish with a 3/16 or 1/4oz screw in weight and use a slow retrieve with small pauses sort of like a crankbait. Both have worked equally as well but I tend to catch more fish with the regular senkos. smallieking Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 i like the carolina rig the best let it sink and just reel in slow so it is just suspended over the bottom i use a light weight and like it for weededges Quote

Tokyo Tony Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 This guy might know something about it:http://www.insideline.net/articles/swim_senko.html I always thought the swim senko looked stupid, but after reading that page I guess I should buy some. They look pretty money. Quote
