BassAssasin2 Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Im about to buy flourocarbon line what is the best in your opinion? Quote
jack1 Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 I use Vicious and never had a problem with it and its very affordable. Quote
SoCalRob Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 I've heard some bad things about Vicious, but can't comment on them. For me, I REALLY like the Seaguar Invisx Fluoro on spinning and the P-Line 100% Floro has been good to me on baitcasting in my limited time with it. Just be prepared to try out a few brands before you find what you like. Also keep in mind Fluoro can be difficult to work with, so be sure you have your brakes set on your baitcasters. Quote
Quitlimpin Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Just Kiddin . Trilene 100% is the way to go. But like Rob said, be careful. A nasty backlash could cost you some $$. Quote

Super User burleytog Posted June 26, 2009 Super User Posted June 26, 2009 Trilene 100% or Stren 100%. IMO they are the same line. Quote

Everybody's going to have a different opinion on what line to use. Your job is to gather some information & then try it out to see what best fits your fishing style. Quote
cabullwinkle Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Agree with SoCalRob, use a couple different brands. I have come to like Bass Pro Shops XPS Flourocarbon. It seems to be strong, invisible and easy to tie knots with. Quote
Movarus Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 I use Yo-Zuri Hybrid Flouro/Nylon. I don't know for sure if the hybrid part makes it something you would shy away from, but I've had a lot of success with it. I've also had success with standard Silver Thread Flouro. Quote

Huge fan of Yo-Zuri Hybrid also. Maybe not pure Flouro but great line. Sunline FC Sniper is the best I've used but pretty steep. Got 2 spools off ebay. BPS house brand is pretty good. I am going to try Trilene 100% soon. Quote
wvbucketmouth Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 I have been using Gamma Edge. Does the trick for me. Treated with KVD Line and Lure of course:) Quote
Super User Dan: Posted June 26, 2009 Super User Posted June 26, 2009 I quit looking for fluorocarbon that I liked thinking that none of it would please me but then I fished some of SPEEDBEAD's Trilene 100% and I just went out and bought a spool. It is pretty expensive but in the little amount of time I fished with it, it performed much better than any of the other stuff I tried. Quote
Uncle Leo Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 I just picked a spool of BPS Flouro and plan on using it this weekend. I have heard good things about it so I figured I give it a go. Quote
Jake. Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Sunline FC Sniper and Trilene 100% are both very good. Quote
SammyLee Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Just had PBS spool up some P-Line 100% Fluoro 10# on the new BPS Finesse baitcaster. Fished yesterday and today with it and like it alot. Kinda hard to tie knots (seems stiff and hard to bend) and if you don't spit on it and tug on the tag line to tighten it, it will cut itself. Maybe line conditioner would help, I've never used it. Hook sets are good; just wait till you think it's the right time and quickly lift the rod. Clean lip/jaw hooks on all fish so far. Well of course, between yesterday and today I only caught 7 smaller LMB so my history is shallow. Spooling P-Line braid on the spinner which I like so far. Quote
KevO Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 I like trilene 100% is has never done me wrong. I have to agree a bad backlash will cost some money too. The first time I used it on a baitcaster i got a small backlash and then a knot developed I couldn't get out. Needless to say I lost half the spool. I was a little ticked to say the least but it was really sensitive so I got over it. Quote
BassNub Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 i would have to say Triline 100% FLURO, but watch out thats some money down the drain! Quote
Furbit Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 I use Vicious and never had a problem with it and its very affordable. Ditto! They did have a issue when it first came out, but they have long fixed it and Vicious is all I use now when it comes to Flouro. There Ultimate Co-Poly is also some real good line. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted June 28, 2009 Super User Posted June 28, 2009 I prefer the XPS that I have, but on another website, someone mentioned it's recent failures and another replied that the recent batch is a different formula and not as good. I don't have any of this year's issue to compare. Maybe Johnny Morris got Berkley to repackage the Vanish for his brand label. Quote

I must have gotten ahold of a spool right after it came out, because my experience with it was WAY less than pleasent. I will NEVER buy Vicious again, which sucks, because I really wanted to like it. Worst line I have EVER used though! I go back and forth between the BPS, and Seagur 100% Invizx. Quote
