Super User burleytog Posted June 14, 2009 Super User Posted June 14, 2009 Someone must have finally read my mind. Stren is releasing a fluorescent flourocarbon just in time for summer. Time to get out the blacklights! Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted June 14, 2009 Super User Posted June 14, 2009 Oy! Either you fish mud or plan on using it solely for nights. Where I fish the water is very clear and flourescents look like a d**n neon tube in the water during the day. I hate that stuff, you buy it up. : Quote

Super User burleytog Posted June 15, 2009 Author Super User Posted June 15, 2009 Just hope the Stren flouro is halfway as good as the Trilene. Quote
The_Natural Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Just hope the Stren flouro is halfway as good as the Trilene. I'd bet a Steez combo it's the exact same line as the Trilene 100%. Both Pure Fishing products...both came out at the same time....both come from the same production facility. One marketed to Trilene users...one marketed to Stren users. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted June 15, 2009 Author Super User Posted June 15, 2009 That's what I've thought since the Stren flouro hit the market, but I've never tried the stuff. Ordered two spools of the 15 lb. fluorescent, so I guess I'll find out. If this stuff handles like the Trilene, I may have found a new favorite line. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted June 18, 2009 Author Super User Posted June 18, 2009 Well, it looks exactly like Trilene flouro. Going to fill my jig reel tonight and give it a good workout this weekend. Quote
Chris W Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Let us know how it works this is great have been wanting one of 4 years now I always hated leaving 3 or 4 reels spooled with mono for night fishing. Where did you buy it from? Quote
Will B. Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I am curious how it works too. I feel that if you added different crystals to the fluorocarbon to make it a fluorescent line, you would take away from some of the intended properties of a fluoro (invisibility, low stretch, sensitivity etc.).....this meaning it will shine under UV lights.....to me a hi-vis fluoro contradicts iteself...... You call catching dinks a workout? And isn't 15# line a bit of overkill? ;D By the way, got the cranks today....thanks! Quote

I know for me, invisibility is the last quality I look for in line. I like fluoro for these qualities, in this order: 1. It sinks 2. Abrasion resistant 3. Low stretch 4. Its invisible Quote
Will B. Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 J Francho, I agree as well. I use fluorocarbon mainly for the feel. I was never a big fan of braid, so the closest thing on sensitivity is fluoro. But from what I understand about making line, once you add something to make it a UV or hi-vis line, it takes some other type of cystal or coloring. May add more stretch, knock down some of the abrasion...I dont know. I'll still try it out though, I do a lot of stream fishing in my part of PA, and sometimes I like a 6lb hi-vis line. I just hate using fluorescent mono's. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted June 19, 2009 Author Super User Posted June 19, 2009 It performs exactly like Trilene 100%. I am almost convinced that it is the same line. Quote

Super User burleytog Posted June 24, 2009 Author Super User Posted June 24, 2009 Still no complaints. If it isn't the same stuff as the Trilene, I'll eat a bag of Flappin' Hawgs. And the good thing is that it is a little bit cheaper than Trilene. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted June 24, 2009 Super User Posted June 24, 2009 I'm not so sure about the fluorescent stuff but after using Wayne's rig spooled with the 100% Trilene I am definitely going to give it a try. Quote
