Dick's rod warranty for a St. Croix rod?

Thinking of getting a St. Croix rod for about $100 at Dick's. Usually I don't pay this much for a rod. I'm considering the extra $11 they want for a 1 year no-fault rod warranty. Fella there said doesn't matter if I break it or what - call the number they give me and the warranty company will send me a gift certificate card to replace it. Sounds like a decent warranty of it is actually that easy. He said the St. Croix warranty is only for defects and you have to box up and ship the rod back to them first.

Anybody used the Dick's rod warranty?

Yeah call it in a week before it ends and go buy another rod, 2 fer 1  ;D. Haha just kidding. But seriously it is a great warranty I had it for a dicks combo and my friend broke the tip off with his hands and they just gave me a brand new one

Sounds like a good deal to me for 11bucks you can't go wrong. Sending it back to St. Croix will cost you more then that.

dmac14 - how old was your combo? And was it as easy as calling the extended warranty company and they sent you a gift card? Or did you take it back to the store? I'm refering to the extended warrnty where you have to contact the warrnty company.

Well my friend took it back, but actually I think it was in the 60 day period so it was under normal warranty. But I remember asking about the extended one and you just call in with your warranty number and in the mail like 2 weeks later you get a dicks gift certificate for the price of the rod.

I've had, and used their, this extended warranty through dick's several times. it is just that simple, call them, give them your info, the reciept number and so on and they send you a gift card for dicks, doesn't even require you to use it on the same thing, just basically reimberses your money in the form of a gift card. can't go wrong with that.

Shipping back to St. Croix would run you more. Not a bad deal imo.

At the Dicks by me, you could probably stand in the fishing dept all day long and no one would even say a word to you.  :-/
