...because the one thing i dont like about soft ones is that they sink when paused.

But that's a good thing about the soft frogs. I've caught a ton of fish letting a soft plastic toad slowly sink into holes in grass/pads or next to wood. A lot of fish will not hit them on top, but will crush them on the fall.

I always rig up a floating hollow frog and a soft plastic toad when I am frogging.

Yeah it's definitely a good thing depending on what you want to do, but the advantage that hollow body frogs have over plastic ones is that you can let them sit in holes and twitch them almost in place, which is impossible with a normal plastic frog unless you get a floating version.

I tried the "floating" SIZMIC toads and they don't actually float. The Cane Toads floaters actually float very well, even with big hooks.

River2Sea Bully Wa and the Sumo Frog are both my favorites.

Have they improved those at all? I like the fact that you can practically make it walk in place but the three I've had all took on water really bad.

I've had zero issues.

Good to know, I'll have to try one out again.

wow there are so many options! i was hoping that most everybody would say the same one but i guess i was wrong ;)

so far the popular ones seem to be the bronzeye and the tournament/bobbys' perfect frog.

what conditions dictate when to use a hollow frog instead of some other topwater lures?

I use the frog in very heavy slop, where i can't get another topwater bait like a pop-r.  I like using them under overcast skies too.

Thats why I rig up both.  A soft plastic toad makes a good follow up to a missed strike on a floating frog too.  Toss it out and let it fall in the hole created by the missed strike.

i like to use bolth as well .... there are a few factors tho .... i like the horney toad or ribbit when fishin patchy slop ,,, where i like the spro for thick slop ..... also look at the fish activity ,,, if there willin to  chase a bait the horney toad is a great way to cover water ..... i will keep bolth rigged at all times from late june on ,,, you never know it is fishin and not catchin ......

Mann's Phat RAt is the best and I will tell you why.  It has a trble hook.  it isnt that 3 is better than 2, it is that the one is pointed straight up.  Hook ratio is supurb to all dual hook hollow frogs. with a little pratice, it can walk the dog well.  for walk the dog action look at Snapg proof's weed demon and the zz walker by Boze I believe. both where made to walk.  If I could have one, it would be the 3/8oz phat ra in white! best part is the price at a little over 3 bucks.
