I see they are on sale for $69.99 which is half their SRP. I am leaning toward getting a St. Croix Premier for $99.99 or possibly the Mojo for $90.00. Does anyone have experience with these rods, and if so, would you recommend them over the St. Croix's I mentioned? BTW...the rod will be in the 6'6" to 6'9" range, medium power with fast to extra fast action and paired with a Shimano Stradic 3000 MgFB. Other suggestions in this price range are welcomed. Thanks!

Got the 6'3" Med, spit grip spinning rod for dock skipping. It's a Med action but the one I got feels more like a MH...that's what I want. The XML rods are very good rods & have a very good warranty through Cabelas. Hold on to your receipt, don't matter how old it is; Cabelas will replace a Cabelas house brand rod.

It has Fuji Alconite guides & they have models in split grip. I like split grip rods & this feels much better than the Kislter Magnesium 6'3" Dock Skipping Special I had. That rod was just not feeling right for me & the XML w/ a MH feel is much better for dock skipping. I've found that this rod is also good for other applications.  I either use an Abu Garcia Soron 20 or a Shimano Symetre 2500FJ & either reel feels balanced & casts great.

For the sale price the XML is a very good rod. Just a bit heavy but I don't care.

I have a Cabelas XML rod that i use on my stradic when im shore fishing and find it to be a really nice sensitive rod. Its just the XML not the ti which has the titanium guide wires and a titanium reel seel. I have a St croix premiere on my energy pt and like it a lot but not as much as the XML. My mojo is a casting rod and while it is the cheapest of the 3 it has a good sensitivity but i dont think i would like it as much in a spinning model. My advice is go with the XML it is sensitive will last and has a good warranty, plus i have never had any problems with cabelas i have and XML and a magtouch and both are reliable and very sensitive.

I was allowed to take my Father's day gift out early.  I've used it a couple times.  It's the 5'6" MF Casting Cabela's XMLTi with the Recoil Guides.  It's very light, but that may be due to how short it is.  It's does not balancd at the reel seat, but it is not noticeably tip heavy because it is so light.  I'm also using a Chronarch MG on the rod, so the combo feels like a feather.

I believe (this) XMLTi is more sensitive than either my Crucial or HMG.  The ticks are not more amplified but do feel more detailed.  I think it is at least as sensitive than my 2 Techna AV's, or may be even more sensitive.

It's newness my be skewing my perception, but this little combo puts a big smile on my face.  I feel like I'm holding an ultra light rod, but I know I can handle a 4 pounder   (assuming I ever hook into one   ;D)

I have both the XML and the XMLTi with all my XML's being spinning and my XMLTi being a casting model.

The XML rods are great rods and very sensitive with a great warranty. I have a 6.5 M, 6.5 M rig & jig split grip which is paired with a Daiwa Regal and a 7ft M which is paired with an off brand Rainbow 1000 reel. At the sale price they are even a better value and my brothers fish some of the other rods that were mention and I like my XML's better.

The warranty is great also as long as you have the receipt. I broke the tip off mine and had it retipped then broke it again through stupidity and one of the salesman told me to bring it in and they would replace it. I took the rod in and they replaced it no problem.

I also have the Mag Touch and the Fish Eagle II rods in both spinning and casting and they are all great rods

Thanks for sharing your experience with XML rods and offering your opinion.  I went to Cabela's today to get a 6'6" XML M with F or XF action for the $69.99 online price.  Unfortunately, they did not have my model in-stock. I needed a rod by this weekend and decided on a Shimano Compre CPS-X66MB (medium x-fast).  The rod was priced $89.99 instead of the $100-$109 it should have been (no one knew why).  It was then the bait monkey pounced on me and told me to go ahead and purchase the other one that was mismarked too....ugh.  So weak I am...lol.  I really do like the feel of the rods and think I will be very happy with my choice.  Thanks again for the help.

It's hard to go wrong with a Shimano.  Enjoy ;)
