Well, I have never broke one yet but the movers from TMO when we first PCS'd from Minot to Hurlburt Field managed to break one.  Wasn't an expensive one as I recall but I was reimbursed for it on our claim.

Two.

One was a top of the line at the time, Fenwick of which broke on the very first hook set the very same day I bought it and when I say broke I mean it shattered into a thousand pieces, thank God I had my shades on at the time. Still caught the little 2lber but never again have I bought anything Fenwick, nor shall I simply not only because this rod broke so easy, but I ended up eating it because Fenwick did not honer there warranty.

The second rod was a G-Loomis GL3 of which I broke messing around, totally my fault. Hum, funny thing to is that G-Loomis actually does honor there warranty even if it's idiot related. Granted it cost 50 bucks to do so but, 50 bucks for something that was my own fault is a small price to pay for being stupid IMO.  OH yeah and the rod snapped in half it did not shatter into a thousand pieces of which is good because I did not have my shades on when I broke it.

At least a half dozen.  One was stepped on by a cow.  Another-a fly rod-broke last week while I was trying to pull a bass out of a mass of skunkweed.  It was an oooooold shakespeare rod so I wasn't too broken hearted.  The rest were casualties of car doors, liftgates, coolers, tree branches, etc.

1 UL, swatting at a snake that snuck up on me like some sort of ninja

That made me laugh.

Anyway, I never broke a rod fishing yet, but I did break one of my Dad's rods a few weeks by accident. We were fishing at a private pond in a small 12ft jon. We had finished fishing and I jumped ashore and started to pull the boat up the bank a bit. We had a cooler on the middle seat that we were using as a live well to transplant some fish to another private pond. Well, of course as I pulled the boat it slid off the seat, hit my Dad in the leg, rolled over and snapped his rod.

Luckily none of the fish were injured and all were released safe and sound. He was also able to exchange his rod at BPS for a new one.

Broke 1 rod twice and it was a Cabelas XML.

1st.time snagged it while making a cast with another rod and it hit the ground and the tip snapped off. Had it retipped and took it out again

2nd Got a lure snagged on a large piece of wood or something and rather than just pulling on the line I used the rod to try to free the snag and snap. I couldn't believe it broke as I starred at the water.

Good thing is I took the rod back to Cabelas and got a new one no problem
