Super User Hammer 4 Posted June 14, 2009 Super User Posted June 14, 2009 I totally agree with War Party..better to invest the majority of your $$$ in the rod...those reels will serve you well. Quote
FishDontLikeMe1301600221 Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 a shimano reel and look @ the st.croix mojo or falcon bucoo rods. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 15, 2009 Super User Posted June 15, 2009 I totally agree with War Party..better to invest the majority of your $$$ in the rod...those reels will serve you well. Wrong. Start with a Shimano Stradic 2500 FI and any 6 1/2' - 7' Medium Power/ Fast Action rod. Reels are what makes fishing fun. On average, the cost of my rigs are 67- 75% reel/ 1/4 to 1/3 rod. 8-) Quote
War Party Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 That's a nice reel. But it doesn't leave him any cash to buy even the cheapest rod at walmart. We're talkin' 175 here. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 15, 2009 Super User Posted June 15, 2009 Check with fivebasslimit...Stradic MG on sale for $100 off MSRP! 8-) Quote
bigfruits Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 id get a shimano sahara 2500 and spend the change on a st. croix, falcon or fenwick rod. ive heard good things about powell as well although i have never used one. edit: check out shimano rods too Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted June 15, 2009 Super User Posted June 15, 2009 We will have to agree to disagree..i'd rather have a nice reel, but a better rod..weather it's right or wrong is any ones guess..imho I totally agree with War Party..better to invest the majority of your $$$ in the rod...those reels will serve you well. Super User Muddy Posted June 15, 2009 Super User Posted June 15, 2009 Pflueger President x6735 60 bucks And You could put that on a 6'6" Med Action Fenwick HMG or Cabelas Fish Eagle II And still have money left over and a fine combo to fish with Quote
