Well most guys have a few different rods and reels so I think I just got my complete beginner setup. Let me know what you guys think and what you guys would use them each for.

Rhino 5'6" med / light action casting

pinnacle platinum plus baitcaster

trilene 8lb xl line

concorde 6' med casting - vry old rod however has a really nice feel

pinnacle solene baitcaster - loved the platinum plus so went up a notch

powerpro 50lb braid

quantim xs3 rod and reel combo 7' med action

I know that these arent the most expensive combos but they work really nice for now. Now I can upgrade to higher end stuff piece by piece.

Let me know what you guys think

Ya im thinking the next purchase will be a med / heavy to get rid of the old concorde POS. I bought that as a combo baitcaster when I was about 15 and it was horible reel. I think together they were like 50$.

A usual, it depends on how much and how willing you are in spending what you will get, there 's no point in me telling you go and get an GLX if you don 't have the money or the will to spend that much in a rod.

The best rod in the 70 bones class IMHO is the Shimano Clarus, there are other good rods in that class, but if it were for me I pick the Clarus

The best rod in the 80 bones class IMHO is the Shimano Compre, there are other good rods in that class, if it were for me I pick the Compre.

In the $100/120 class there are a lot of nice rods, I don 't have a favorite, but thinking it carefully I 'm certain I would pick a Shimano Crucial.
