Blank Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Getting ready to buy a new flippin stick, wanting some opinions on reels looked at the ardent F500 but haven't heard anything about them. Thanks Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 An Abu Garcia Revo of course! I use an STX because of the 24lb drag system they have. This thing paired with a good stick and line will ****** them right out of anything! Quote
Quitlimpin Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Yup, pretty sure a high percentage are gonna say STX. That thing will haul out an F-150 Quote
dmac14 Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 ;D STX or SX. I wanna put one on my truck to use as a winch Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted June 4, 2009 Super User Posted June 4, 2009 i hate to beat a dead horse but id give a good look at the Curado 200E7. IMO its one of the best reels for the $150-$200 price range. Daiwa TD Tierra for $100-$150 price range. on a side note as far as the F-500 id wait to get those. being a new unit i would wait to make sure the quality is there. plus the fact its a heavy reel. Bronzefly Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 I'd also go for the Curado E7 - or the Chronarch D7 if it's in your price range. The Chronarch handles lighter baits better, but both have HEG and plenty of drag power with the stock Dartanium drag system. Quote
coryjames Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 curado.who needs 24lbs of drag?you will break your rod if you crank it down that tight anyway.well if you hook something big.put your thumb over the spool is you want to lock it down, thats like 100lbs of drag : Quote
rynobass Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 I'd go with the f500 with the big eyelet there is no friction when flippn & Pitchin, 28 lb drag, heavy duty brass gears, strong handle, narrow spool w/ a peg so your not wasting line or having to put backin on the spool. 3 year warranty and If Denny Brauer uses it flippin that's All you need to know Quote
fishingflorida Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 one of the best pitching reels on the market Daiwa Zillion.. handles any size lure with ease and pitches a mile and a half! sure it doesnt have 24LBS of drag... but theres not one person that owns a revo thats got the drag totally locked down... so Daiwas super smooth 9LBS of drag will give you all you need. and it has the most comfortable frame on the market.... Based off the TD-Z need I say more? Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted June 9, 2009 Super User Posted June 9, 2009 Shimano Castaic is my favorite. Quote
Bayou Bass Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 I use the Curado E7. I like the high speed to pick up line before I set the hook, but I really like how this rod feels in my palm. Quote
dave Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Shimano Castaic is my favorite. I bought one this past winter used and in great condition for $100. Don't know how I ever did without it. Quote
