Hey everybody, after reading that thread "snaps on traps" I am wondering what you all think is the best, most subtle snap on the market.

Thanks, John

I use strictly Evergreen snaps, size 0, 1, and 2.

Whats the best site to buy those from?

*please dont be siagoni sakkis or whatever ebay store (that are ridiculously overpriced)

I order mine from Ichiban Tackle. Ask for the black ones. Even though he doesn't show them on his site, he can get them.

You might want to order a few other things while you are there so shipping doesn't kill you.   ;)

Not quite sure why you would need/want a silent snap? I mean come on now, the whole idea behind using a crank in the first place is for it's attracting qualities, right? Noise (if any with a snap) would be a plus, not a minus, it would seem to me. I've used the Berkley black cross lock snaps for many years. "They'll do to ride the river", as the old Texas Ranger once said.  ;)

I have some of those, and while they're good, it takes me more time to change lures with these than it takes to retie.  I just can't get the hang of them.

And I don't see exactly what the Evergreen snaps have over normal Eagle Claw snaps, for example.  Are they better for any reason?

These snaps work better in gin clear water when the fish are real spooky with silent jerkbaits, silent lipless cranks and silent crankbaits. ;)

I'm  thinking both subtle in noise and especially in the way the lure looks, Maybe I'm crazy because I know the hooks are worse.

Anyways, T-rig and jimzee thanks I will be buying some.

I buy the .95 cent Walmart size 1 snaps that come in black.  They work great & have a 25 lb weight rating.  They will not come undone under load & they open & close easily.

I bought some Cabelas size 1 snaps & those things were thicker wire than the ones from Walmart.  It was impossible to open those up, had to use needle nose pliers to open & that wasn't what I wanted.

Next time I'm near a walmart I'll check them out. I actually live just as far from BPS!
