Nah, I'd rather do it myself and learn, than to pay someone to do it for me, even if I destroy it in the process and if I ever have a problem I will know how to fix it. Plus if you want something done right you do it yourself, iv'e had bad experience with having things "repaired", never again. Quote

If you try and do it yourself and destroy it, you obviously didn't fix it. How would you know how to fix it the next time, wouldn't you just destroy it again trying to fix it again? You did it yourself and it wasn't done right, how can having something "repaired" by someone else be any worse? Quote

No, ill learn from my mistakes. the more I familarize myself with something the more knowledge I'll gain, even taking apart a fishing reel will help you understand the engineering behind things which will help you fix other things. My brother always says " take it to the professionals" yeah well alot of good that will do you when your out on the lake away from the, "professionals" Quote
ksbasser Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 Call BPS rod and reel repair. They will send you the schematic and hopefully you can figure it out from there. Next time, take pictures. I take several digital pictures of the reel as I take it apart. Then I don't have to worry about forgetting where something went. Quote

Super User J Francho Posted May 29, 2009 Super User Posted May 29, 2009 Let me know (PM) if you absolutely cannot get it back together. I recently rebuilt seven of these reels. In the meantime, call the number, and have them send you an exploded diagram. Quote
Bassin_0502 Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 I recently bought a Rick Clunn that was on Clearance at BPS. I don't know if there are multiple reels that carry that name. In any case, PM me with your model # and if it matches what I have I will scan my schematic and email it to you. I do know that my reel does not have the cool non-slip coating that the new models have. Mine is also a 6.4:1 don't know if the assembly is different for the different gearings. Quote
Einstejn Posted May 29, 2009 Author Posted May 29, 2009 Thanks for the reply's guys, I got the schematic from BPS and the reel is back together and ready to go (for free) Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted May 30, 2009 Super User Posted May 30, 2009 Good for you. Ya gotta start somewhere, no one was born knowing how to repair a reel. One more tip - a lot of reel schematics are on the small side. If you have access to a copier that can enlarge, it makes things easier to reference while you're working. BTW, thanks offering the cat. The answer is no Quote
ksbasser Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 One more tip that I have found useful. In addition to taking pictures, I keep a pad and pen handy. As I take the reel apart I make little notes such as where a certain length of screw goes or The order of drag washers and such. Quote
