Luke at Gouldsboro Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 I usually use my spinning reel and have been using fluorocarbon.I know mono is o.k. and it stretches a little in the water. I was just wondering what you guys use and its advantages/disadvantages Quote
aarogb Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Monofilament is strecthy and a little visible. Flourocarbon on the other hand isn't visible at all and also doesn't stretch. What techniques are you going to be using with your spinning rod? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 26, 2009 Super User Posted May 26, 2009 I use braid with a fluoro leader. Very sensitive If you want to fish a pure fluorocarbon line, this is great advice. Otherwise, you might give Yo-Zuri Hybrid #6 a try. 8-) Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted May 26, 2009 Super User Posted May 26, 2009 X2 on Yozuri Hybrid, good line, high strength, sensitive. Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted May 26, 2009 Super User Posted May 26, 2009 X 3 on the Yozuri hybrid ultra soft...great line. Quote
adclem Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 X 3 on the Yozuri hybrid ultra soft...great line. X4, AWESOME LINE! Later, Quote
bassin is addicting Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 i also use spinning gear and have been using Trilene XL 10lb. exclusivley. seems like a good all around line. and i always use an improved clinch knot... i know i should learn more knots...but i havent. i'm always wondering if i should try a different line though. :-/ i fish a lot, 95% of time from the bank. in some cover but not too heavy. mainly wacky rig, use some cranks, not a very good jig guy (always worried about getting hung up), and top water whenever i can. i always see that RW recommends Yo-Zuri Hybrid should i switch from mono?? if i do.... can i use my improved clinch knot?? i'm just really torn on what line to use. i don't have problems with the XL, just wonderin' if i should try the Yo-Zuri. or do i need to? kinda like the bait monkey has me on the line. workin' on a tight budget.... i know it's under $10, but if the XL is ok..do i want to switch?? Super User roadwarrior Posted May 27, 2009 Super User Posted May 27, 2009 It hardly costs a thing to test Yo-Zuri Hybrid. If you don't like it, throw it away and respool. If you do decide to give the Hybrid a try, buy #6 (.010" diameter, 11.9 lb test). DO NOT put #10 on spinning tackle. I also recommend KVD Line & Lure Conditioner for all lines. Quote
bassin is addicting Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 is it ok to use improved clinch knot with the the Yo-Zuri? :-/ Quote
bassprofishguy Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 yea any knot will work on Yozuri Hybrid i just stick to the poly knot easy and strong Quote
5151 Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I have run the whole gamut of lines, Floro, braid, copoly and have ended up with braid and floro leader for 90% of my rigs from 10lb to 40 lb the others I haven't had time to switch. ;D Quote
