bronzeback01 Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 I know it's a question of brand loyalty but if any of you have both please give your opinion. thanks Quote
mrlitetackle Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 seriously??? one of each...... thats just nuts (especially on my budget) ;) im curious to see if there is a person who actually has both in their fishing arsenal. Quote
Super User .RM. Posted May 23, 2009 Super User Posted May 23, 2009 One each of Daiwa's and Shimano's top end Spinning reels ... Bet someone here is going to claim they have both... Here is my opinion as a service tech that has had both on my bench's for service.... Darn Fine Reels!!! Long gone out of my budget..... Tight Lines!!!! Quote
TruiteBR Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 I have never seen a shimano Stella reel; however I have seen a steez and it is very impressive. I really liked it, and it is lighter. Quote
FishingPirate Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 For the price, you cant go wrong. From an aesthetic point of view, the Steez looks modern and has a lot of sharp angles. The Stella is like the attractive girl who would rather do well in school than party. Quote
midnighthrasher Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 For me it would be the stella. Shimano all the way!!! As nice as the steez is i would go with shimano if only for the warranty. Quote
boatinpete Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 I own a Stella fb 3000,use it as my go to reel,It does not get babied at all,it still is butter smooth. That being said my partner has a Steeze and he thinks his is smoother then mine. Both reels are awesome, that being said I wish I had another one.My only gripe is for that money neither reel comes with a extra spool. Redsyn Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 I think I would go w/ the stella out of the two. But if it were me, I wouldn't get either. the money can be used for a Great baitcasting reel and/or rod. I think spinning reels just needs to lay line correctly and have a smooth drag and smooth retrieve which a lot of them do in the $100 range. Unless its for offshore saltwater fishing then you need a better reel. But we are talking about freshwater bass fishing. I still use my $40 shimano aero spinning reel for my loomis drop shot rod and its perfectly fine. Smooth as the day I bought it and I believe I have only serviced it once out of 7yrs of use in fresh and salt conditions. If you want a high end spinning reel and save some money, basspro is having a sale on fathers day on the daiwa fuego spinning reel retails at 249 now 99 on that day. I personally would go for the daiwa sol spinning reel if I needed another spinning reel. but 99 is hard to beat. Quote

I looked on the BPS website under the fathers day sale but I didn't see it mentioned. I would definitely like to pick one up if they are on sale for that price. Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted May 25, 2009 Super User Posted May 25, 2009 I can't help with the comparison, but I have two Stella 2500FB and one 1000FA. The 2500s have been used extensively for three years and the 1000 four years, but just occasionally. The performance of all three reels would be describesd as better than NIB! I have been very pleased with these reels and I'm sure the new models are even nicer. 8-) Quote
