Super User Catt Posted May 22, 2009 Super User Posted May 22, 2009 Shimano Sedona FD or Spirex FG; what do y'all think of the QuickFire II One-Handed Casting System. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted May 22, 2009 Super User Posted May 22, 2009 I never liked it, line would occasionally wrap around that appendage, whatever you call it. I took if off. Quote
Uncle Leo Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 I never liked it, line would occasionally wrap around that appendage, whatever you call it. I took if off. X2 The Sedona is a much better reel. Quote
tyrius. Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 I had an old Shimano reel with quick fire that I liked. I have replaced that reel with a symetre and it is much better. The system is nice to have, but it also has it's issues. As snook said the line can wrap around the trigger. The trigger also causes the bail to be much heavier on one side and throws off the "balance" of the reel. I think it was reelmech who convinced me not to get one. Quote
Super User .RM. Posted May 22, 2009 Super User Posted May 22, 2009 That style trigger system is all the boss uses here. I just got done cleaning her "01" 4000 Sidestab with a QuickFire II system. It isn't as balanced as the Stradic, Sustain, and the trigger can be a knuckle buster (don't know about line looping the trigger), and can go real out of balance if you remove/break the trigger. I personally don't use spinning gear except my UL's for panfish and they are floooogers (took the place of my Quantum UL reels)... Tight Line All!! Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted May 22, 2009 Super User Posted May 22, 2009 I tried the quickfire reels many years ago, never could get use to them...As a result, I stay away form em.. Quote
Use ONLY Stren Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Im not sure about the quickfire reels, but i am selling a sedona if your interested. Quote
LAO162 Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 I used the quick fires as a teen back in the '80's. I thought they were awesome. In hindsight, now I understand why I had trouble setting the hook. Sometimes it was almost a full rotation before the anti-reverse kicked in... Quote

Flooger! You Da Man Reel Mech Back to the subject, I'm not a fan of the quckfires either for the same reasons already mentioned here. Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted May 23, 2009 Super User Posted May 23, 2009 I liked the Quick Fire trigger and my Spirex was one of the best reels I've ever had. I had no problems with the quick fire on my Spirex but I did have an older RX that gave me some problems. Quote
