phisherman Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I like Sufix Performance Braid. It's a more round and smoother than Power Pro - my 2nd favorite braid. Quote
Aaron Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Yo Zuri Hybrid is good, as is Gamma Colpolymer. I also have tried the Suffix brands with good results. However, I have went back to Trilene XL for my spinning and Trilene Big Game for casting because I can always find it, it is cheaper, and it has never let me down. Quote
bigfish88 Posted May 20, 2009 Author Posted May 20, 2009 gosh dangit, i just ordered a spool of vanish!!! and all ive heard is its horrible! looks like a trip to bass pro for trilene XL is in the future. Quote
Super User Raul Posted May 20, 2009 Super User Posted May 20, 2009 Has anyone used or tried P-line CXX?? Yes, you can uproot a stump with it. It 's ridiculously strong and abrassion resistant, behaves like wire in the higher than 12 lbs test but if you want something to pull them out that 's your girl. Quote
rubba bubba Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Fireline Crystal for superlines (I prefer fusions over braids like Suffix/Spiderwire). Mono - no preference. Quote
NBR Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I've used Vanish Transition in 12# for several years with no problems. Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted May 20, 2009 Super User Posted May 20, 2009 my two favorite lines are trilene xl and izorline xxx in smoke , both handle very nice and are very strong !!! Quote
JellyMan Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Trilene xl smooth casting is very nice. Used it for years in 10lb test. I just recently switched to Power Pro Braid and havnt got to fish due to Orlando getting slammed for 4 days with rain. BLAAAH!!! I did do a small cast in my pool and it felt nice. Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Stren original for mono Trilene 100% for fluoro Power Pro for braid Quote
J-B Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Has anyone used or tried P-line CXX?? I just put some on my real 2 weeks ago. It is a very strong line, no doubts there. Started out great but now it has a horrible case of the coils when it comes off the reel. I had been using the Cajun red high strength 14# and it was much smaller and more relaxed than the p-Line cxx 12# that I currently have on. I plan on going back to the red. I hope that you have a better experience than I did. Quote
bigfish88 Posted May 22, 2009 Author Posted May 22, 2009 thanks yall got some 10# trilene XL its strong, pretty abrasion resistant, and cast great!! Quote
crw Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 I have Prower Pro on 7 baitcaters and Suffix braid on 1 baitcaster. I have used Power Pro for 3+ years and have found that backlashes occur when I try to cast too hard. All it takes with an SX, 4600C3, or 5500C3 is a flick of the wrist for long cast. I add 18" to 24" mono leader (Cajun Red or Stren). When I do get a backlash, they are normally very easy to get out, even ones where I hit the motor with the rod. I have found that I change line much less with braid than mono, which make up the cost of braid. After 6 month or so, I reverse out the braid (casting end tied to reel end), this adds to the life. I also use mono backing with about 75 yards of braid. I have had breakoffs with braid on rocks. You can feel the braid going over or around rocks or stumps. When I used mono, I changed line every month or so. Nicks and kinks. I have yet to use the Suffix braid fishing, but cast in the yard it seems compatible to Power Pro. JMHO Quote
