crimefighter3 Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 i want to use a fluoro leader tied to braid. How long should the leader be for fishing most texas rigged plastics? Also I have been having trouble with the knot slipping when tying the two lines together. Any suggestions there. Quote
adclem Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Leader length 2-3 feet is what I normally use. For the knot I use the double uni-knot and have never had any issues with the knot slipping or failing. Later, Quote
Use ONLY Stren Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I use between 2-4 ft. depending on the clarity of the water. What knot are you tying to join the two lines. Quote

rubba bubba Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Roadwarrior - FYI, but you linked the Bloodknot in your Albright knot link as well (both links are the bloodknot). Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 20, 2009 Super User Posted May 20, 2009 Thanks! Corrected. 8-) Quote
Chris W Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I always add a little glue to the knot also to help hold. Quote
mrlitetackle Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 in fresh, i dont use a leader.... just straight suffix braid.... but in salt, i use a mono leader.... about 6ft in length.... the knot i use is the improved albright..... ive never had it fail... if your having problems, i suggest giving it a try... (the improved albright is wrapped down as well as up.... just google it) Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted May 21, 2009 Super User Posted May 21, 2009 I use a double uni knot and never have problems. I use about 2 - 3 feet of leader most of the time, longer can make casting a problem, especially with a casting reel. P - Line CFX fluorocarbon leader is by far the best. Quote
rubba bubba Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 For lines of different size: Albright Knot I meant to ask, do you prefer the Albright over the uni to uni and if so, why? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 21, 2009 Super User Posted May 21, 2009 I'm looking at the smallest "bump" I can get without sacrificing strength. Several knots work just fine, but it seems to me the Blood Knot and Albright create the least disruption in the line flow. 8-) Quote
crimefighter3 Posted May 21, 2009 Author Posted May 21, 2009 I'm going to try the blood knot today. Thanks for all the tips fellas. I'll let you know how it goes. Quote
