Ive always used the palomar and have had very few failures. But when my fishing partner ties it he cinches the overhand knot before he brings the hook through the loop and often has failures do you think that could be the problem. thanks

Hmmmm I was at a fishing show this winter and Dean Rojas demonstrated how he ties on one of his signature frogs.  He cinched the overhand knot as well before pull the bait through the loop.

He was using braid and a double palomar which may make a difference.

Could be that the 'loop" that goes around the hook could be getting caught where the eyelet meets the shank, I know I've been in a big hurry to tie a hook on, and danged if the loop didn't cinch down on the eyelet all the way...wound up losing my t rigged worm..lol
