pabassin Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Here in Pa we throw jigs all year around, it is my confidence bait. What rod do you prefer to use? I am currently using a Berkley Series one 7'-0" MH w/ a revo. A buddy of mine is sponsored by Pure Fishing, so i got good deals on stuff. Now i am looking for a great quality jig rod. Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 This is an easy one ... G Loomis GLX BCR853 or BCR854. These rods were made for 1/2 oz. Jigs. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 13, 2009 Super User Posted May 13, 2009 G. Loomis GLX BCR854 8-) Quote
Branuss04 Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I own the G Loomis MBR 844 IMX and its a great 1/2 jig rod. 80% of the jigs I throw are 1/2oz. Quote
Super User .RM. Posted May 13, 2009 Super User Posted May 13, 2009 I recommend looking at the St.Croix line of Avids.. AVC70MHF 7', MHF, Line: 12 - 20, Lure: 3/8 - 1oz, Rod weight: 4.7oz, MSRP $180 AVC70HF 7', HF, Line: 14 - 25, Lure: 3/8 - 11/2oz, Rod Weight: 5.0oz, MSRP $190 As a rod builder I have built my jig rods on these blanks... If those are to steep budget wise then I would suggest looking into the MOJO's... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!! Quote

It has been my favorite rod for many years. I recently bought a BCR854 which has a slightly faster tip, but no one would know unless they fished both rods! 8-) Quote
bigtimfish Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 look into falcon originals 7' mh 12-25 lb 3/8 to 1oz $90 Quote
Super User Raul Posted May 13, 2009 Super User Posted May 13, 2009 MBR785 IMX, that 's my jig baby. Quote
djmax22 Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I like the 855 for 1/2oz jigs and up, but th 854 will work too. Quote

That's good to know. Thanks for the information Quote
pabassin Posted May 13, 2009 Author Posted May 13, 2009 im gonna look into the loomis i think. On the cheaper side, would a crucial or carrot stick make a good jig rod? Quote
Bantam1 Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Cumara CUC72MH for 12# and 1/2 ounce jigs in light cover. Cumara CUCX72MH for 15-20# and 1/2 ounce jigs in heavier cover. Crucial CRC70MH is a good all around jig rod too for a little less. This is what I use but my opinion is biased The Loomis MBR844 GLX is a good jig rod to add to the Loomis rods already mentioned above. Quote
Uncle Leo Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I use the Falcon Cara Head Turner for this application. It is a Heavy Power Rod but acts more like a MH. 6'10" is length seems about right for me. Quote
Matt 825 Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Cumara CUC72MH for 12# and 1/2 ounce jigs in light cover. Cumara CUCX72MH for 15-20# and 1/2 ounce jigs in heavier cover. Those are the 2 jig rods that I am using right now. Light and ultra sensitive with some serious power especially in the CUCX72MH. That rod is and absolute animal!!!! Quote
