strick9 Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 9 in the boat. 7 baitcasters and 2 spinning. 6 St. Croix's, 2 All Stars and 1 BPS Extreme. Quote
The Yankee Fist Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 If I'm bushwhacking 2 max, general shore fishing where I can get to my car, 4-5, 2 spin, 2 cast and an unltra light... boat...as many as I can Today I was shore fishing and some spots were really tight. I had a 6'3" spinning rod with 6lb test and a 6ft casting rod with YZ hybrid 15lb test that I use for cranks and spinnerbaits. I wish I brought my 7 foot casting rod to throw some heavy jigs in the current and pools. Runoff is still a bear here. Not one stinking smalljaw today or yesterday, it's unusually hot right now...one small largemouth though. ;D Quote
The_Natural Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Enough to get the job done!5 I generally carry five as well; 4 casting and one spinning, although I will carry up to 8 if I'm a non-boater and have no idea what kind of water we will be fishing. Quote
MyKeyBe Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 2. 1 spinning and 1 baitcasting. I fish from the shore and the bass don't seem to mind that I don't have 186 rods and reels. Everyone looks way to much into this! I need 83 rods and reels to catch a fish that is dumber than a boxs of rox? Give me a Zebco 33 and the "Garbage rod" it came on and I will show you some bass! wisturkeyhunter Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 1-4 usually closer to 1 than 4. Bringing as much stuff as alot of you guys would take alot of the fun out of fishing for me. There comes a point when fun becomes work and no longer is fun. Quote
nateobot Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 I only own 3, and I typically will only bring one with me. Quote
Mike 12345 Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Usually on the boat I'll have about 6 baitcasting setups and two spinning rigs -everything from Berkley stuff to American Rodsmith to Kistler stuff- though most often, the less expensive stuff I have around as an 'alternate color' setup, like if the fish don't like the primary color crankbait I have on my main cranking stick. Carrying more rods helps to keep me from having to re-tie as often, but having too many rods on the boat can be cumbersome. Quote
zbigbadaaron Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 I use 1-2 rods but i fish from shore 99% of the time Quote
greg516 Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Two. I usually fish from shore. One spinning and one baitcaster.. Right now I have a 6.5ft Quantum Triforce X(don't like it) Pair with a shakespeare reel with 6lb Ande Soon its going to be a 7ft Medium Fenwick GT series paired with a shimano slade with 8lb p-line floroclear and then a BPS crankin stick with a shakespeare axiom soon to be a shimano crestfire with 8lb p-line cxx Quote

It lasted one trip. One encounter with a cypress tree cured that problem. I hear ya, Micro Other than being mindful of my back cast on that side - I haven't had any problems. This is a better option than sitting on them all which is what started the rod holder build in the first place. A-Jay Quote
lubina Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I also use vertical holder on my Tracker, just have to be paying attention at all time, but they are convenientes and spare me some room for more combos Quote
