bronzewb22 Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 I recently bought a g loomis glx crankbait rod for an unbelieveably good price and am now in the process of finding a good reel to pair it with. Any suggestions? Quote
Super User Micro Posted May 3, 2009 Super User Posted May 3, 2009 Team Daiwa Zillion High Power. You can spend more, but you can't get better. Quote
bronzewb22 Posted May 3, 2009 Author Posted May 3, 2009 looks sick. my friend has one and says he loves it. i guess ill look into it Quote
mase088 Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Also take a look at Shimano's Curado E5, I love mine. Quote
heathen Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Daiwa Zillion Crazy Cranker or Revo Winch would be my picks for on the rod. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted May 4, 2009 Super User Posted May 4, 2009 From personal experience, I would suggest a Quantum Energy in the Power ratio, a Curado E5, or a Daiwa Sol. I just started fishing cranks with the Sol, even though it seems its marketed as a finesse reel, it gets the job done wonderfully Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 4, 2009 Super User Posted May 4, 2009 Shimano of course...Specifically CTE200GT. 8-) Quote
Super User fishinfiend Posted May 4, 2009 Super User Posted May 4, 2009 Shimano Chronarch 100BPV I got this reel for Christmas and it is AWESOME. TW has them on sale, too! It is had to beat a $270 reel for $187. http://www.***.com/descpageRLCSHIMANO-SHCHBPV.html Quote
lubina Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Team Daiwa Zillion High Power. You can spend more, but you can't get better. Agree, best cranking reel in the market Quote
MitchIsFishin Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 That Zillion is super-sweet at 4.9:1. What is your budget? Zillion at $270 (all can be found cheaper), Calcutta 200GT at $350. Just picked up a C3 (5.3:1) for $70 new that I will use for cranking. Look around, check them all out, check out the wallet & GO! ;D Quote
bigtimfish Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 $150+revo wench. $100 or cheaper bps david fritts series. Quote
bunkerbstr Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I second the Chronarch BPV. I've had that reel for a few years and love it. Casts well and the bigger deep divers won't beat ya up so bad with the slower speed. Only drawback I hear about the Chronach's from people is their smaller spool/less line capacity. It hasn't gotten in the way as far as my fishing goes. Quote
Deputy Dave Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 My 2 recommendations would have to be: Shimano Curado 200E5 Abu Garcia Revo Winch Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I have the G Loomis GLX CBR855 and I paired it with a Daiwa Sol. It is one Bad @ss set-up. I think you will be very pleased with the rod. Quote
Sharkbite Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I love my Pflueger Trion cranking reel. 5.2.1 gear ratio at $100 new. Can't beat it. Great reel at a great price http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20166-cat20331&id=0011735116476a&navCount=3&podId=0011735&parentId=cat20331&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=IK&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601233&hasJS=true Quote
